Think about this if you choose to OC...there will be a plethora of anti-gun people out there watching and waiting for you to to "slip up" or give them a reason to call the police if you do the slightest thing wrong. Use discretion and mind your P's & Q's! As the saying goes..."you might beat the rap but you won't beat the ride"! Just another reason NOT to OC in my opinion!

According to the rules that we received, drop holsters are legal as long as it is also attached to a belt

Use discretion and it will all be fine. If/when somebody decides to be a fool while open carrying is when issues will arise, but the same could happen with cc. I think many are overreacting and fantisizing about possibilities that are unlikely to occur with any regularity.

Please, I'm begging you. Find one news story from anytime in the last 5 years where an open carrier was the first target when a crime was committed. Just one. I dare you.

You guys need to stop regurgitating the same crap the media is pushing about this kind of stuff. It's ridiculous how off base yalls opinion is. And I've already said I rarely intend to open carry. But not for the ridiculous baseless reason y'all keep spewing.

^^^^^^^^^^^ There's your answer folks!

Seriously, just look to the other States that have Open Carry (of some form) for data. You will find precious few examples of the 'worries' some are citing.

Presently....there are 45 States that now have Open Carry (one form or another). IF OC were much of a problem....we would have heard about it by now.

You bring up a very good point. If OC was creating issues in the states where it exists, the "drive by" media would be all over it. And of course, they would be quiet as a mouse about any positive impacts.

I have nothing against open carry, indeed it might make us a more honest society. But for now, I personally prefer concealed carry. Surprises are like gifts....tis better to give than to receive. laugh

I could care less about OC. But I do care about the fact that CC can and will suffer due to the negative attention drawn by OC. Trust me.....there are going to be places you can CC today that you won't be able to tomorrow because businesses are now aware. If businesses are going to order a 30.07 sign they may just order that 30.06 sign they didn't even know about.

And yeah, yeah, yeah....I've heard the "i'll boycott any business that bans OC" and "they'll lose so many customers and revenue". Believe me, these businesses are well aware of the small percentage of customers they are alienating and losing. They'd much rather lose CHL holders than anti-gun, soccer moms.

This is exactly what I am worried about.

can they still open carry their rifles inside the stores with the 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted, since the signs are only for handguns

30.06 and 30.07 is for handguns only. It does not apply to rifles. But then again, why?

Put me down as one who will still carry concealed. - It's just a personal preference, nothing more than that.

On the other hand, I am looking at SAA revolvers, intending to carry one "open" while in my shop.

Kind regards, charlesb

Also, I'm not talking about open carry when at your private house, on the deer lease, at your private ranch, at your business. I carry concealed that ends up being open carry at the deer lease, but so does everyone else I hunt with. I'm talking about in the city going to the store or going out to eat, or running your errands where there will be many other people.

Yes, I have done so in the past, but not at this location. - I would not generally carry open in public though. It would have to be a pretty special occasion. Out in public, I prefer to carry concealed. - But that's just me.

There are quite a few folks here in the high desert country that will probably carry open. I look forward to seeing what kind of setup winds up being most popular here. The only fellow that I've talked with so far who says he will be carrying open for sure favors a 1911 in a shoulder rig.

Back in the Pre CHL days, when it was legal to carry IF you carried large sums of money regularly in your job duties...I always carried concealed on the days when I would have $2-3k to pushing $20k collecting from my gun dealers who preferred to pay in cash...usually pawn shops etc.

Carried a Colt 1911 LWT Combat Commander in the small of my back in a inside the belt holster, and sometimes a S&W Model 60 on an ankle, along with the telltale gym bag and briefcase or order folder etc.. got some knowing glances from time to time, but never had but one problem confrontation...that was resolved "peacefully" with no damage or injury to anyone...but I needed the 2nd piece to palm and provide the needed "incentive" to deter the planned robbery attempt by 2 young men in a Pawn Shop parking lot on Grand Ave, near Fair Park.

If I had been open carrying, I do believe I would not have been able to keep the situation under control, and prevent any casualties, based on the perp's conversation about how to deal with the imprinted Colt in my back...and never seeing the Smith being palmed...they'd of hit me totally differently but would for sure have hit me that day, until it became apparent they'd lost their advantage.

Just Sayin' ...No one will know when or what I am carrying unless I WANT them to. BTDT ...with a 5 figure chunk of change the bad guys goal that fine one morning in early May 1979...and I dropped the Pawn Dealer like a hot rock for running his mouth about me & my business, according to the 2 young men. Made him come to the Will Call window at the warehouse in Carrollton if he wanted to buy anything again...and put the "word" out with my competitors to be careful doing business with that guy, until his business folded for lack of access to new merchandise. What goes around ...comes around.
Ron
