My Dad tells the story about the first time he ran into a 257 Weatherby, he was hunting in the Blue Mountains in nth eastern Oregon, back in the 40's. He heard a couple of shots and went over to see if anybody needed any help, found an old boy with 2 bulls down side by side. Dad asked where he shot them from and he pointed to a tree on the other side of the canyon, since it was on his way back he went by the tree. When he got to the tree he found the casings where the guy had shot from and looked back. Dad said it was well over 600 yards. He always wanted a 257 after that.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I'm wishing I wouldn;t have gotten the Accumark and went with a Nosler. I have trusted my .270 WSM Nosler Custom 48 on some pretty important hunts and she has never let me down. It is simply a fine rifle. Now with the newer offerings the same rifle minus a few bells and whistles is not nearly as expensive. Those Nosler rifles sure are nice too bad they're not offered in 257 Weatherby.

I am torn right now between the acumark and the cdl. I have been watching this thread and it sure is hard to make up my mind.

I have a Mark V Accumark in .257 that i'm considering getting rid of?? It's a great shooting gun, it's just taking up room in my safe and doesn't get shot at all. I just prefer my ole .243 for our west Texas deer! Pm me if you have any interest and I can send ya some pics.

have spent months and lots of $ trying to make a friends MK V shoot good groups.I have owned 7 different cals in the MK-Vs.none of them shot better than 1.5moa. The other day I found a rem 700 stainless in 257 with a swaro scope.looked like it was fired only to sight in.it was cheap,so I bought it for the scope.gonna dump the gun right!my buddy talked me into taking it to the range before I robbed the scope.3 shots,200yds,1/2".I dont even shoot 257wby.my accu-mark wont even do that.Good luck with what ever you choose. After dealing with WBY & WBY customer service...I won't buy another one. Really? What happened? I called them about a VG Sub-MOA that the stock had cracked around the bolt. 2 days later I recieved a box with prepaid return shipping label. Got it back about 4 wks later with a new stock, glassbedded, headspacing and truing checked and certified and a new factory certified target with better groups than it had to begin with. I was EXTREMELY satisfied with the customer service. I guess it depends on who you talk to and the mood they are in. EDIT: Just checked the paperwork; only took 3 wks. shipped 5/11, got it back 5/27.

I had them tell me nothing was wrong with a rifle and the barrel was replaced.

Wow, also surprised by your experience with Wby. I have called about various parts and custom services over the past year, and they have always been patient with my questions and willing to work with me on what I needed.
