I am debating between the two guns. Has anyone shot the 700 in 257? Obviously there is a price difference but other than that....Which would you choose?

Those are definatly two different animals right there!
If you like the more classic look of the wood stock then the CDL is your gun! If you are looking for a gun with more attention to quality control and basicly a simi custom gun then I would go with the Accumark!
If money were no object then the Accumark is what I would choose, but I am a sucker for a CDL!
You picked a great caliber, now just figure out what you are really lookin for in the gun!

That's exactly where I stand on the decision. I love the 700 and have several but I think there is something to be said for shooting a weatherby cartridge out of a weatherby gun. I just can't make up my mind so I thought I would ask.

I admit thats a tough call. I have a buddy going through the EXACT same decision making delema.
Having several 700's myself (and my buddy does too), they are good guns although I favor the older models a bit, unfortunately Remington's quality control can be hit and miss lately.
Never the less the CDL is one of the finest looking looking rifles out there, and 700's are typically shooters. Also they are like the 350 Chevy small block, tons of upgrade stock, trigger, etc. options out there for them.
The accumark is no doubt a fine rifle but twice the cost, minimum.
One thing my friend is thinking of is getting the CDL, buying a Mcmillan stock to his length of pull,in the exact color scheme he wants, a timney (the Mark X trigger is good but the Timney is still better), bedding and floating it, maybe even cerakoting the whole thing.
He will then have a gun that is truly 'him' not just off the shelf, and still come out at no more cost (or less) than the accumark.
So there's another option for you if your decision wasn't hard enough already, LOL!

I have a couple of CDL SS fluted rifles in 260 and 7 Mag but that 257 Weatherby Lasermark just makes me feel good. They all shoot sub MOA. Everyone needs that one special rifle.

I've always wanted a 257 wby, the 700CDL looks like a good choice.

I've got a Remington CDL SF in .257 and it's great. I can consistently shoot .75 MOA with factory ammo. Mine shoots best with Weatherby/Norma Barnes 100 gr. TSX. It outshoots my Cooper 25-06 if that says anything.

i have the 700 cdl sf in 257 weatherby. have only shot the 100 grain tsx so far. every 3 shot group have all been touching. before i shot the gun, i had it fully bedded. i will upgrade to a nice tactical synthetic stock before next hunting season. the stock remington recoil pad is nice.
i was in the same situation as you at one time and opted for the remington due to all of the aftermarket options. i would lean very heavily towards the submoa in the vanguard though if given the chance to do all over!

Thanks for the nice comment. With 110gr Accubonds and a stiff dose of IMR-7828 it shoots as good as it looks. It has taken quite a few deer and most of the more common species of exotics in Texas.

Exoticbob - Why would you go for the Sub MOA over the 700 if given the chance to do it again?

E.T.A the submoa are pretty accurate guns. i have seen them shoot several different factory loadings w/ excellent results. i was not impressed w/ the wood stock offering from remington. the submoa has a nice synthetic stock. i am having some chipping/flaking on the forend tip of the cdl stock. i have no idea why its doing this, but i don't like it.
anyways, you will be getting a for sure accurate gun at a good price. hard to beat that combo. the money left over could go to optics, trigger etc...

Accumark!!! I have had several Weatherby's, including the Accumark, a couple of VG Sub_MOA's and a couple regular Vanguards. Outstanding quality, customer service and great looks, I really loved my Accumark - wish I hadn't sold it.

I have a custom .257wby built on a mauser action but I also plan on getting a cdl and putting a Hogue stock on it with ziess scope.....if I can ever get out of college.
i have a remington 700 sendero in 300wby and its a tac driver, clover leafs at 200yds. i think the Remington rifles dont have the long free bore that the weatherby rifles have.

P.S. i tested my hand loads this weekend for .257 wby
71gr. of reloader 22 with a 100gr Barnes TSX is 3,600fps out of a 24" barrel and the factory rounds are 3,550fps.
The max load for this is 71.5gr, OAL is 3.160 , Winchester magnum rifle primer.
Accuracy.....CLOVER LEAFS

I shoot a Weatherby Mark V 257 and 117gr SST with IMR 4831 pushing it is magic! You will just have one hole in the target that grows a little with each shot.I also have remmys in 700 and they are shooters but after owning a Mark V I would tell you that weatherby is worth the extra $$$$$$
What kind of lights does it shoot out? Like are we talkin the mini bulb Christmas lights or a 500 watt flood light?

Well since I asked for everyone's opinion I guess it would be appropriate to let you know what the final decision was...I ended up buying the 700 CDL SF in 257 and a 700 CDL in 300 Win. I couldn't turn down getting two guns for a little more than the price of one Accumark. The two guns diversified my collection and filled in a gap in calibers. Of course now I have to buy two scopes..lol

Please keep us updated on how the Remington 257 shoots. I am looking to buy one as well. I was thinking about the Accumark as well.

Two great selections however, I am not you and your not me but think I would have gone with the Rem Ultra Mag 300. If you going to shoot a 300 mag might as will be a scald dogger....just saying

Ya originally went to buy the 300 ultra mag but decided on the 300 and not sure it was the best move but I can always buy a 300 ultra too... just another excuse to buy another rifle...
