If it has horns, it has to be tagged as a buck in Texas.

That Doe's got a nice rack, congrats.

Cactus buck? Clue me in guys on this one. We have a 10 pointer on our ranch that is still in velvet. Saw him last year as well, do they shed their antlers each year but just do not shed the velvet?

Cactus bucks never shed thier velvet or antlers! In real cold conditions some parts of the rack may freeze and break off, but they never actually shed the velvet or antlers! The antlers grow all year long!

I wish there was some way to score deer like that and come up with a square inch measurement. Like have a laser measure all the horn and them come up with a score. I think square inch would be better.

If you keep your hair short and your mouth shut, things tend to run a lot smoother.

Female deer can have antlers, it is a genetic defect and just as helo said, if a deer has antlers and they are not covered with skin and hair, they are tagged as a buck.

Seen a few in East Texas and they are generally quite large deer.

You can score them. I think they take the largest beam and call it the "main" beam. Then count everything else as abnormal points. It could be subjective though, as to which one is counted as the main beam. Would hate to be the scorer on that one.

You could measure anything but it wouldn't be a score it would just be measurements. B&C will not score a deer unless it has a definitive main frame. That is just how the system was designed. Here is an article to another deer like this where it is stated that it couldn't be scored. http://www.ncgameandfish.com/hunting/whitetail-deer-hunting/NC_0905_01/

I read in a book a couple of years back I think it was called Whitetails by Rodney Marburger out of Kerrville. If I remember right they still have all their male organs but they will be located somewhere else in the body. just deformed
Will make a cool mount.
