I won't smoke anything. I might take it orally for medical reasons, if it worked.

Option D - In place of pain prescriptions like hydrocodene and for medical purposes. Yes ^^This. It has helped several friends of mine with medical issues. All Texans, and they don't care that it is illegal. One is a former Police Officer with Crohn's Disease. It is the only thing that has helped him, routinely.

Smoke it, no, never...hate the smell. I have friends / acquaintances who find it very strange that I can tell them when they have been smoking pot. The two issues I have with weed, are, it stinks and most people who consume are two obtuse to keep it at home and not infringe on the rights of others.

I had my fill when I was a young man. Don't want any part of it. If I ever had a medical need for it, maybe I'd consider it, but only in pill/edible form where the dose could be well regulated.

No. How come most people who claim they need pot for medical are in there 30s and 40s? Most people that age dont have medical pain. Not until you hit 60 or later. You dont see 60 to 80 year olds protesting they need pot. Purely a democratic backwards thinking scam

I don’t see it as a big problem. It’s just not for me. I took one puff of it, a long time ago, and told myself that I didn’t need to go there.
I have an addictive personality and have to be cautious. I started as a teen farm and ranch hand.
I quit smoking cigarettes at least a dozen times, over the years, and always went back. Then, about 10 or so years ago, I started to light one and decided not to. This time, no withdrawal symptoms and still none.
I recently found a half pack in the back of a drawer in my workshop. I wondered. Then decided I already knew the answer. I field stripped them just to make sure I didn’t weaken.
Now 83 yoa and every one of my teen buddies that kept smoking are gone.

I tried it once when I was a freshman in high school, my brother in law lit one up and I took two hits of it, I don't remember a single thing shortly after doing that until the next morning when my sister was waking me up because I was sleeping on their couch. Never had an interest in it ever again. My brother in law told me I was just incoherent and trying to walk around until I passed out on their living room couch, he said it was pretty amusing.

But I have two friends that have become stoners claiming it as "medicinal" to calm their nerves and relieve stress. Both are house wives with absolutely no stress in their life. They are always high, sad.

I can maybe see the medical use for THC, but it would not be an acceptable excuse to sit around, and toke weed all day...those folks are just trying to game the system. Like I said, I really have no problem with what folks consume, keep it at home and don't expose your kids. I know lots of folks who consume alcoholic beverages on a regular basis, those folks don't hang out downtown at bars, or drive around drunk, that is mostly the younger folks or/and those who never really grew up. I have no tolerance for drunk drivers or people who believe their rights trump all others.

Never ever. It`s just as nasty as cigs. Only time I touched POT was when I was throwing it out the window of my friend's car while I was driving down the highway in 1978 (I was 19). I found it in the glove box while looking for his 8 track tapes. He shouldn`t have left it in his car and asked me to help him move. He wasn`t very happy a few days later when him and his pot smoking buddies were looking for their next high. We quit hanging out after that. Pot was definitely a gateway drug for him and most of his friends. He went into rehab for meth recently after a run in with the law.

Are there negatives to the other ways to use it for pain relief than smoking? My mom has used it for pain, but not smoked. I would use it for pain but I would prefer a different method than smoking it.

All these "medical purpose" excuses don't make much sense. I'm not aware that it has been proven to be a cure for anything. Is it just that when someone is high they don't feel the pain, or care that they do?
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

As far as I know, there is no decent job that will allow it. I would fail an employer’s drug test on marijuana. Besides that, I already gave up alcohol. I like to be sober, and in control. I have done some outrageous things under the influence of alcohol, last thing I need is to start experimenting with substances at age 44.
I get my high off fishing and hunting.

Well, the topic has been beaten to death here and everywhere else.
Personally, I've never known anyone or heard of any instance where someone got stoned on weed and beat their wife and/or kids or started a bar fight that ended up with someone in the hospital or morgue. nobody has So I just can't see the justification for keeping it illegal while allowing alcohol consumption to go pretty much unchecked.
As for the gateway drug argument, that is complete horse excrement. Alcohol is the gateway drug, if such a thing exists.
All that said, I smoked plenty of pot as a youngster. I stopped years ago when my kid was born. I won't say I haven't had any since, but it is rare and in a setting where I'm at no legal risk doing so.

Interesting stats in this article: The results of these surveys highlighted key behaviors and attitudes: 44.1% of users consume cannabis multiple times daily. 57.8% drive daily. 84.8% drive the same day they consume, with 53% driving within an hour or less. 46.9% believe cannabis does not impair their driving or even improves it. Lots of people smoke it even though it`s not legal thinking they`ll never get caught and then one day they do. A guy at my old job with 35 years of service was walked out yesterday after failing a random piss test. No wonder they call it Dope.

I'd be curious to see the age demographic relative to the answer given. I'll speculate most "nevers" are boomers. Not implying anything negative, it would just be interesting to see.

Nobody risks a 35 year career on something they are not addicted to. I saw some of this as well. It is addictive and will obviously take control of your life. Why else would someone risk it all to do it?

I had my fill when I was a young man. Don't want any part of it. If I ever had a medical need for it, maybe I'd consider it, but only in pill/edible form where the dose could be well regulated. I feel the same. I do not think that it's a problem until it is abused. Like alcohol, I have known MANY abusers.

I'd be curious to see the age demographic relative to the answer given. I'll speculate most "nevers" are boomers. Not implying anything negative, it would just be interesting to see. Having good sense is not relegated to any age bracket. History lesson: The hippies were boomers.

If it's harmless, why did you try to stop when your son was born?

Tried it once at 15/16 but I couldn’t stand smoking either. I was already a routine alcohol abuser at the time. Tried a “real” drug in my late 20’s and lucky for me I didn’t have the funds to continue on that path. Stopped regular alcohol use/ abuse in my 40’s just before my throat cancer diagnosis. Only thing I’m “addicted” to now are my sleep meds!

Having spent my career working with troubled youths I have tons of stories that says otherwise. In 2009 a kid wanted some weed but didn't have any money he got the bright idea to rob the weed man. Ended up killing him he is still locked up. Have had several kids playing with a gun while high and ended up killing their friend/girlfriend or relative. Most of the kids I delt with had terrible home lives. not saying weed caused their problems but it didn't help their situation.

Daughter, I never said it was harmless. I stopped for a few reasons actually. Mainly, legality, and the potential pitfalls that would have come with being caught with any. But also, I was just getting tired of it. I had been considering stopping anyway and that just seemed like as good a time as any to do so. Woke up one day and decided I was done with it, and never really missed it. Like I said, I'm not a prude against it or anything. I might partake in the right circumstances to this day. It's just not a regular part of my life anymore, not for several years. I don't drink either, stopped that a few decades ago. But each to their own, as long as they aren't being hypocritical about it.

AAA User Study44.1% is really low compared to what information we received while booking in juveniles. 3-7 times a day was at least 70%

No, I can't stand the smell. I'd try it in an edible, but I've heard from my friends that those are a bit more dangerous...because you never know just how hard of a hit you'll get. They say smoking it is a more mellow hit...but I HATE that smell! I was coming out of a local Walmart the other morning and someone had clearly lit one up in the parking lot and it wasn't even 9:00 a.m. Nasty smell.

Start out with a small dose and move up from there. Where you get it is what determines how strong it is. I don't think CBD is as regulated as it should be. I'm not one for more regulation, but the product needs to be a consistent strength across all brands. Kroyal knows about this stuff. It does help with sleep for me. YMMV.

Quite a few of the guys I hung out with in high school and shortly after smoked pot. I never felt the urge to partake. After seeing how my friends acted after getting stoned, I figured I could act just as stupid sober.

I know some of you don’t want to hear this, but there are some terrible side effects that come with marijuana abuse. Sure, there is a difference between use and abuse, but hear me out. A lot of folks that use it to battle anxiety, have anxiety that stems from marijuana abuse. And quitting helps.
Also there are some serious mental issues. Paranoid/schizoid disorders, for starters.
You should be very careful with anything that alters your mood or your mind in any way.

Smoke it, no, never...hate the smell. I have friends / acquaintances who find it very strange that I can tell them when they have been smoking pot. The two issues I have with weed, are, it stinks and most people who consume are two obtuse to keep it at home and not infringe on the rights of others. Same here, hate the smell, from what I understand it’s even stronger than when I was in school in the seventies, the a friend told me yesterday That his son abused the synthetic stuff and it put him in a mental institution.

Not sure how I lean towards this one. I did do some back in HS, that was long time ago! Never crossed our mind we walked into school or anywhere for that matter smell like weed! I too have change in personality when I drink (most folks have some kind of shift) so I drink very little and that is maybe 1 or 2 beer after mowing yard. I don't even think about stopping to buy a 6 pak on way home so the thought of putting in effort to locate and buy a quarter oz is beyond me. So maybe I would try it again but not really going to overthink it and plan for it. Have bottle of crown in freezer that I will do shot on occasion when listening to tunes and cleaning house...thats my wild and crazy anymore.
Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock! 12/26/03-10/25/13

I took a puff and stopped myself right there. I was about 19-20 years old at the time. I was already on a pack of Camels per day and too much beer. Fast cars, broncs, I and faster fists. Had spent 4 years in college and didn’t have enough grade points to be a Sophomore. I realized that I was out of control and had an addictive personality. All the other hands were the same.
I quit smoking cigs and beer. Joined the USAF and grew up at age 21. Now 82 and all my high school buddies that kept puffing weed are dead. Most that stayed away from it are still alive. Gotta admit, being 82 with arthritis isn’t living.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I'll be 65 in August. By some weird coincidence, every one of my lifetime friends has heavily consumed on a daily basis since high school. All successful, running businesses, raising families, throwing under par rounds at every local disc course in the state. Women want us, and men want to be us.
The only members we have ever lost came were caused by ole mister Booze. And they went down hard.

Very True Some of you olds smoked it when it was low %, todays strains are 4-6x what they were when y’all were sporting your mullet next to your classic car Todays weed is just a step below alcohol.. it’s all recreational until it’s not Today’s weed will tranquillize a horse compared to what it was 30 years ago It's good but not that good.

Todays weed comes in many strains and potencies. some are very mellow and some will nock you over. Weed shops can help you find the strain for you.

It doesn’t bother me if someone smokes it. Same as I don’t care if someone has a few drinks. I don’t care to hangout with anyone, thats in the habit of getting totally trashed. I don’t babysit adults.

Bottom line for me.
I’m 82 yoa and have drank more beer, whiskey etc than dang near anybody or everybody here. 3 Refrigerators full of beer that I haven’t had one of in years. Full liquor cabinet that has dust on the door edges. Smoked cigarettes for most of my life but quit about 10 years ago with no withdrawal symptoms. One puff of MJ a long time ago was enough for me.
Did multiple days/nights in the crossbar hotels courtesy of the local cities narrow mindedness due to not being to walk straight or pass a breath test.
Just have no desire for the stuff and no longer part of my life. Not hypocritical because you need to run your life as you please. I would probably enjoy a margarita but no desire to find out.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I wouldn’t even if it was free and delivered to my door. Was outside earlier doing yard work and could smell it from one of my neighbors. Skunk!

No.
The smell is horrible and people who smoke it have a constant brain fog demeanor.

No, I have no reason to go through my life drunk or high. People that do are miserable inside and looking for an escape.

You should be very careful with anything that alters your mood or your mind in any way. Lots of truth. Early onset dementia is one of the major issues they are finding with regular use of today’s high powered cannabis. I’ll leave my personal opinions out of it but it’s not a worry free substance. Short term memory loss, dementia, crashes your testosterone levels, there is a give and take with everything
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Not my cup of tea but I know people who partake. They all have said the same thing. The new strains are so much more potent than the stuff you got from the local dealer years ago. Doesn’t sound like a fun time to me. I guess the plus side if you are buying from a dispensary you know what it contains and isn’t laced with something else. It wouldn’t surprise me if at some point it is like buying beer or cigarettes and even still won’t be my thing.

Seems to me the powers that be want to encourage the use by having all the smoke shops around. Just in my area there are smoke shops in small towns around me, including my own. Tyler has got to have 2 or 3 at least.

CBD oil, with minimal THC has helped my wife's diverticulitis better than any prescription med.
I believe Marijuana has medicinal purposes. And being just a plant makes it more appealing to me than big pharma. If I needed it for a medical reason that is. Fortunately, I do not.
Lots of Firefighter buddies have back, knee, hip, and shoulder pain. Several of them have said they are going to give it a try after they retire. Until then, they are just going to have grit their teeth and live with the pain.

Smoking thc, seems like a poor choice for your health. the pungent odor to all around is annoying.

Lifelong friend of mine had a daughter with a brain disorder. They fought for a type of prescription that contained THC to reduce the amount and the severity of seizures but hit some sort of roadblock. Sadly, she passed away at 11yoa.

The original pole didn't list for medical reasons, otherwise I would have voted yes. Just to get high to escape the day to day grind is still a no. I took and passed over a 100 drug tests over a 43+ year career that required annuals plus random ones. For some reason our crew had to do the company one, plus a DOT one and randoms. Probably due to dealing with high pressure gas and pipelines. No way I would put my job and retirement at risk.

No! I've arrested too many people smuggling it or stashing it, in some cases they were 2 or 3 thousand pounds of it. I'm not talking guys with a baggie or a lid. Seen a couple guys on the submarine that were good techs and they turned to worthless pieces of chit because all they could think about was their next high.
If it's licensed and used for medical purposes, I have no beef with it.

No to smoking. If smoking filtered cigarettes is bad for you how is smoking an unfiltered Marijuana any better? Besides, they stink.

I jumped in the deep end today. We were at the Frisco Home and Garden show and after talking to the owner of a CBD business, I bought some Delta 8 gummy’s for sleep. Trying to get off prescription sleep meds. Hoping it helps with my knee and hip pain as well. Wish me luck!

Keep us updated. Don’t take too much.
Delta8 will show positive on a drug tests, if you take those. Most jobs will just need a picture of the label to verify the thc content.

I’m on a group text with 10-12 friends. All super conservative dudes. None really have an issue with gummies, edibles. All feel it is far more appealing than pharmaceutical / addictive prescriptions.
Smoking the weed just seems so “bottom feeder” and not healthy at all. The smoke is obnoxious.

Interesting so far 35% of THFers would. What's more interesting is the number of those that are current users. It's illegal and disqualifies you on a 4473.

Half a gummy only made me a little tired after an hour or so. Took my lesser 2mg sleeping pill afterwards and fell asleep pretty quickly. Not a good test night as my wife woke me up twice with nightmares. Think I’m going to take a full one tonight and try to skip the sleeping pill. Learning curve.
