I'm pretty beat up. Not wishing a early demise on myself, but 20 more years would be a tough go for me. I'll go when the good Lord is ready for me.

As long as I’m in possession of my faculties…

I have a 92 year old grandfather and a 90 year old grandmother that still live independently. My other grandmother is 85 and still lives independently. My other grandfather passed away in his mid 70s due to kind of a rare blood disease. He was relatively healthy up until about his last month of life.

My dad has lived with MS for about 35 years and has just recently needed to use a scooter to get around. He’s only 64…

If I could choose I would like to live into my 90s as long as I am not a burden on my family.

I mainly just want to watch my children and hopefully grandchildren grow up and be a part of their lives.

I just turned 40 and the reality of how short life is has started to hit me.

Yep. My Grandfathers made it into their mid-90s and were sharp. My Dad started the mental decline thing at around 92 and made it another 4 years. He was still walking and talking and seemed like a nice old guy. Truth and fiction became one and the same to him. I do not EVER want to be like that.

Two things I want to live to see. 1. I want to see my grandkids(which haven't been born yet) grow up. 2. I want to outlive my wife. She lost her brother young and has seen a lot of loss in her life. She doesn't deal well with loss, and I'd rather deal with losing her than have her deal with losing me. Preferably neither of us will have to deal with that anytime soon, but that's not up to me.

You and me both. I have run 15 miles a week for over 40 years which while there are no promises it gives one a chance of living a longer and better life.

I retired this year at age 70 but I am staying busy. I love life and want to prolong it for as long as possible. Even if the day comes that I am not mobile I will make the best of it - especially if I can still see my wife, kids and grandkids. When the day comes (which it will) I will be grateful for the life I have lived - I believe staying in shape and keeping a positive outlook contributes to your longevity -

As long as i am physically and mentally able (for the record don't need to be fast anymore just need to be able to get it done) i am happy to carry on. As soon as i can no longer get it done i have no intention of carrying on and will either run a class 6 rapid in my kayak or find a bear willing to put me down. No way in hell do i intend to die of old age or even indoors if i can help it. Living in a home while a PSW changes my diapers and feeds me is anathema to me. If i get a terminal diagnosis hopefully it will be with sufficient time left to go out in style instead of in a hospice.

Highly doubt i will make 80. 60 now but I am mostly a solo adventurer and sooner or later Mother Nature will catch me. Almost had me last February 15 miles offshore on the ice solo and 2 years before that she almost got me when i broke my leg solo hunting off-grid. Self rescued both times as using the Sat phone is cheating - i just have it cause it makes my wife feel better.

I don’t know, and I don’t care too much. It ain’t up to me, and I’m much more concerned with my next life.

As a youngster I never thought that I would make it to 40 and did not care. Now pushing 69 it is as long as I am enjoying life and not a burden to my loved ones, can get around on my own, know where I am going and why!

This sums me up too. Though I have had far more losses of close loved ones than my wife. With this experience I feel I could handle her loss better than she mine. Though Not something Im ready to deal with any time soon. As for an age It be nice to make 100 but id settle for mid 90's.

I’m 81 and certainly not the man I used to be; either physically or mentally. I’ve been tested for Alzheimer’s and have no symptoms. Doc (Neurologist) says I can’t possibly live long enough to get that stuff due to no current symptoms. But, I do have the worst short term memory of anybody he has ever tested. I won’t remember posting this. OTOH, he says I’m in the upper 10 percentile in IQ.

I’m liable to ask wife, 11 years younger, the same thing multiple times per day. It’s an irritant but she understands. I wouldn’t know that I had done it if she didn’t remind me.

OTOH, I get together on a monthly basis with the survivors from high school. Once I figure out who they are, I remember a lot about them. But, if introduced to anybody that I’m meeting for the first time, it’s a good bet that within a couple of minutes, I’ll forget their name or even the meeting. But, I’ll remember what they looked like in high school. Due to having a military father, I attended 8 different schools. I remember them.

Mechanically, I’m not all that well but never have been. I recently disassembled an old Garcia Ambassadeur bait casting reel for cleaning and lubricating. I’ve done that for many years. I looked at the pile of parts and had no idea how to get it back together. Called my grown grandson to reassemble it. He had never done that but figured it out with no issues.

Using logic isn’t a problem but remembering the results is a problem.

But, I can remember the odds, in poker, of improving a 4 card straight or flush or 2 pair, etc.

BTW, a high IQ is useless in day to day living or quality of life.

I would like to live as long as possible so I can continue to store up my rewards in heaven. While life here on this earth is pretty good, as I know I am certainly blessed, I know that my next life will be spent in the presence of my heavenly father. With that being said, I would like to live as long as possible as long as I have a decently operating mind and body.

I would like to live as long as my mind is mostly still there. I can still get around on my own and mostly I can still wipe my own a**. I am 77 and will be 78 next week and so far I am on track to make it.

I’ve been thinking about my mortality more recently but know it’s not up to me. Grandparents died to their late 60’s and my parents made it to their late 70’s and 1 of my uncles is in his 80’s and still going strong. When I was younger I never thought I’d make to 65, which I’ll be in Dec.
