Made a trip to B/CS to visit grandkids yesterday. Went into town first to get a look at the Big Boy locomotive that spent the night in Brya. Wasn’t able to board, but had a good upclose viewing area.

It is awesome and you need to see go by at speed.
Standing at a crossing as it rumbles by is more than impressive.

Dang I missed it. One of my places is right on the RR tracks. Just looked it went by around 11am this morning. Got to see it a few years ago.

Next time it comes we are planning to go see it at the station in downtown Houston so we can board it.

Thanks for the heads up! There’s a whistle stop in Navasota, they may work out better. And a shorter trip for the grandsons. Looking forward to seeing it moving.

saw it come through forney awhile back. it was haulin azz at night. was delayed about 5-6 hrs in east texas trying to get to dallas.

Got a video of her as she came into Ft. worth a couple of years ago. I was about 4-5 feet away. Close enough to get steamed and feel the great rumble as she moved by. What a wonderful piece of American engineering! I just wish she was still coal fired, as a Blacksmith, the smell would exquisite.
