That is a result of local ordinances.

Have you got a generator to run your AC?

Yes I do. Don’t know if I’ll be bringing it though…weather is not gonna be too hot.

I had a security Walmart guy bang on my door at 2:00 a.m. telling me to get off the lot. I was dead asleep. I just drove down the closest Cracker Barrel and slept there. This was in San Antonio, btw.

Between Athens and Livingston WMAs like Richland Creek, Gus Engeling, and Sam Houston NF should have free camping with an APH permit or yearly $10 access permit. Might be others near your route if you check on the TPWD website or APH book. I have camped on Gus Engeling out of season before to go fishing and the only ones there. Access and rules for these places are always changing or there could still be hunts scheduled like hog hunts, so always call and ask before making plans to stay at one of them.

You are guaranteed to need it if you don't bring it.

Sometimes it can be 60 degrees outside and with the sun out mid-day we still have to put on the AC in our rolling toaster. Or at least to cool it off for a bit.

You might be making a mistake on not accepting my offer. You could even come to the house and hook up to water and 30 amp, and forget boondocking. I have a myriad of adult beverages on hand. Wouldn’t mind meeting you. Your call.

There are signs all over Sam Houston NF saying that camping is only allowed in designated areas.
