Yea, but how many nuclear plants have been built in the last 30-40 years? And why?

That is a rhetorical question btw.

Just the one in GA that I am aware of.

You do know that ONCOR is owned by a company in California don’t you. They are not the same company as a few years ago.

Oncor does not generate, nor dictate the generation in Texas. All systems have huge issues with an ice storm.

I know that Oncor does not generate - what I do know is that their service (or lack thereof) is horrible -the California ownership explains a lot

If you’re referring to outages, ask for a 2 year run back and share with me and I’ll try to help.

How long has the United States Navy been using mobile nuclear power plants?

Granted, they have infinite cooling water. But still.

Exactly! Technology is really pretty safe. So why are we sinking $ into in-effective solar and wind? Are people unduly afraid of nuclear? Nobody is paying the politicians to push nuclear? Maybe it solves a problem that the climate change activists want to keep around so they can use it as propaganda? I guess it wasn't a rhetorical question after all. I don't know the answer, but I have an idea.

This "ERCOT can go it alone" mentality is going to come a cropper. Abbott keeps saying, oh we're just fine, don't worry about it -- but please turn your AC up to 85 tonight ...

I bet all the mansions in Highland Park have green yards and AC set to 70 degrees even with lakes dropping and ERCOT calling for us to conserve. They are probably also charging their Teslas.

Not an engineer by any means or smart as one, but maybe they are afraid of leaks near populations? And being land-based, maybe, overheating?

Isn't squaw creek nuclear? I'm 99% sure they have two reactors there.

Nuclear energy doesn't fund raise (for either party) like wind and solar does. That's the bottom line, it's about money they don't give a crap about anything else.

So will a 5000 watt generator burn $410. worth of gas in a month?

I bet all the idiots, sorry I meant "real successful people" that live in McMansions have nothing at all to do with this. The new American dream is a 5000 sq ft house on a 6000 sq ft lot. Most of the time for only two people.

It's really sad what we have become.

Think I read the new one that just came online took 30 years from planning to completion. Most of that was red tape.

So a person living in a 5000 sq. Home is an idiot.

Got it.

Maybe require everyone to live in a 1500sq. 3/2 instead or even better, government housing projects.

That’s what we need to do.

Don’t forget a yard that looks like the fairway in Augusta.

Yards don’t require electricity to maintain….

you would need apprx 600 gallons of gas to run a 5k generator full out 24x7 for a full month. (approx 20gal/day)
$410 wouldn't last a full week!

I just went and scrolled through his previous posts to verify he is who i thought. Remember if you dont have 1000 acres your opinion doesnt matter to him. Every one that lives in a city is an idiot to him.

dude never has anything positive to say. Pretty sure he probably lives alone and hasnt touched a piece of agricultural equipment in 15 years.

It's the nature of the business. I can't think of another industry where supply and demand must be kept so close in order to generate (pun intended) a profit. Imagine a factory without warehouses where everything that comes off the assembly line must have a buyer waiting or it gets thrown away.

If the picture he posted of a lady holding a fish is, indeed, his wife...he did get that right. An extremely cute young lady. (See, I can be a gentleman about a man's wife, even if the man is an...)

AND, there is a shred of truth about the huge house on a tiny lot. My daughter and her family (4 total) lived in one up until recently. I blame sheer, unbridled greed by the developers and sheer stupidity in buyers accepting it.

It doesn’t really work that way. You can’t ramp up a big generator with no where for it to go. Supply and demand have to to stay pretty close.

one of the best inventions ever. and the usa moth balled them by over regulating them scaring the people or sheep. lets see how many wind farms and solar farms last that long.
