I don’t understand how you go through a computer so quickly. Are you buying $400 netbooks? Get a Lenovo SSD or something. They’re always on sale, like 20-50% off, and I’ve had no complaints out of mine in two years. Still going strong. It was like $1,000 with the discount and they do them all the time. It’s been 2 Lenovo’s and now an HP. None were cheap, generally $1000+ as the sales price. I can’t do MacBook, love them, but can’t deal with that learning curve anymore. onedrive its so simple trex can do it I have that, or box or something. I also have an external hard drive but have ZERO idea where I put it.

Good news is I got it worked Mh, bad news is it has to have a pencil under the right side so something inside either makes contact or quits making contact. Who knows.

Life has gotten so much easier since I got rid of my computer, in about 3 years I'm getting rid of my iphone and just get a flip phone. I'll have that only because we have kids.

I gave Mojo72 a shot on here and bought one of his HP laptops. So far so good. Price was less than half. This is a better computer that my company pays $3k for via our third party IT thiefs. If your company is paying 3K per laptop they’re stupid. Easy there.....my partner and I just bought the company and have contracts we have inherited. Haven't been happy with IT people that want to sell hardware, but it is what it is for the time being. I went back and reviewed the quote, and it was actually $2400 plus tax for the HP ProBook 450 32gb...with a 3 year warranty.....with them setting it up to work with our software....etc. Still high, but we have a place to complain when things go wrong.

Sat it in my lap and it worked. Say it in my desk and it wouldn’t. That told me that the case is failing or something inside has come loose.

Do you have a laptop case? Or do you just toss it in the bed of the pickup when you travel? How are you going through them so fast? My last laptop lasted me about 8 years. The one prior to that was about 5, but the only reason I replaced that one was because I needed more memory. Have you tried a Dell? That is what almost all of my work computers have been. Here's my take on the situation. There is a long thread of guys who spend similar amounts of money on their computers and don't have issues. Then there is you, who has had issues with all of them. Dude, I don't think it's the computers problem.

No disrespect to you or your business partner, I was referring to the company that signed the contract, but I'd terminate that contract as fast as possible. That same laptop costs around $1K all day long and can find several discounted below that directly from HP. They all come with 1 Year factory warranty from HP. Configuring a laptop that already comes with windows and office 365, then installing software that you guys already own shouldn't cost $400, but lets say it does, you guys are still paying a $1K premium on every laptop you buy. If I had a thousand dollar profit off every laptop I've sold and configured for clients I'd be rich rich LOL. If you guys ever want to talk about managed IT services shoot me a PM. Not sure where you guys are located, I just see Wise Co., but I do managed IT services all the way out in Muenster TX for Koch Sales so anywhere in Wise Co. wouldn't be much further of a drive for me. I do mainly 98% remote work anyway so not a whole lot of traveling involved.

Dude, I don't think it's the computers problem. Some of us realized this even before this post was made. If I was a betting man he's gotten lotion in the thing I lost a mother board in a laptop but other than that I can't think of a single one that has just crapped out on me. The one I'm using now (Macbook) I've had 8 years and 2 years of that it was getting toted through the airport every other week...that's hard on them.

Sat it in my lap and it worked. Say it in my desk and it wouldn’t. That told me that the case is failing or something inside has come loose. It is probably just one of the ribbon cables came loose inside. I see it all the time with chrome books my wife brings home to fix from her school. Kids are crazy hard on them. Flip the laptop over and remove every screw on the bottom of it, also remove the little rubber feet there will be screws hiding under them. Then separate the bottom from the top keyboard bezel. Look at all the connections there aren't that many, almost everything is soldered in place except the screen, battery, keyboard, and things that go out will need to be changed over the life of the laptop. Few troubleshooting tips: Plug the laptop into power and move it around set it on a flat surface and see if it goes off. If it doesn't go off then its the battery cable that is loose. Put your pencil under it and get it to turn on, then slowly close and open the screen to see if it goes off. If so then it is probably the screen cable is loose. Shouldn't be the keyboard cable unless it is making contact with the motherboard and shorting it out, but that is a long shot. TLDR: Take it apart and make sure all the cable connections are seated well

Kroyal, I appreciate the input and no offense taken. We have offices in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. This third party IT now runs our internet, office phone, cell phones and all the other computer BS. I would love to tell them to GFY when the time comes.....

I have a Dell Latitude that was my primary work computer at least 15 years ago. Our IS department added memory to it. Not long after the memory upgrade I needed a much more powerful laptop so I got the biggest and best that Dell made at the time. I kept the older model as a backup. About the only time I was not on a computer was when I was in a meeting so I needed a good backup. When I retired they gave me the backup computer. It was going to the bone pile anyway. Still use it and works great but I don't do a lot on the computer these days. My brother who use to design boards for Dell gives me hard time when I have it at the deer lease to look at camera pics. I tell him hey it still works and has the updated bus board with a ton of memory. Plus I have a Dell docking station at the house that used when I worked remotely.
