Bought mine at academy on the 15th - arrived in the mail on the 20th, if I recall correctly. I was surprised how quickly it arrived.

I picked up my license at Dicks in Flower Mound. I say picked up as I have a Lifetime License.

It took them a few minutes to figure out how to do it, it is just an option on the computer terminal.

I paid and got the Duck Stamp right then and there.

Brings up an interesting question- say you buy a Texas hunting license AND duck stamp - then later travel to 'Kansas' to hunt with some relatives that live there- and you buy a Kansas non-resident hunting license - Do you still have to buy the Federal Duck Stamp for your kansas license, even though you already bought one in Texas?

If you have a valid Fed Stamp signed and attached to any current State license, then carry that one PLUS the out-of-state license without a Fed Stamp and you're perfectly legal. Hopefully you won't be checked by Homer Newbie the State Warden who doen't know the federal laws.

Ok, here is my point. If my hunting license says I purchased the duck stamp, and that is good enough for a GW for 45 days, why can't that be good enough for GW for the whole season? What is the point in limiting it to 45 days only? They can still send us the stamp since we paid for it, that way Cappy can put the stamp right in is collection, and it stays all shinny and new looking! roflmao

Just playing with ya Cappy, that is a nice collection, I started collecting too when I saw you post your collection a ways back. I got it going back to when my son shot his first duck, I'll surprise him with it in a few years and let him take it over. up cheers

Cappy your are correct, as long as the stamp is attached to the back of a license and signed across the face of the stamp, it's honored in all 50 states. This is Fed Law, not a state law.

Guy the reason your stamp endorsemant is only good for 45 days, is because of a agreement between 7 states, (selling license on line), the USDA & Fed Fish & Wildlife Service. After your endorsement is 45 days old, you must have a stamp attached and signed across the face to be valid.

The reason most collectors buy two or more stamps is they are worth more, and they have a better collection without the stamps being signed.

Attaching & Signing the stamp is the only why the GW knows who's stamp it is, and that keeps people from loaning their stamp to another for a day of hunting. Again it's a Fed Law.

Now when I checked with Kansas a couple of days ago, they told me they will not accept a Texas License Endorsement, They are not one of the seven states in that agreement, Most of their license vendors do not carry the Fed Duck Stamp, but it available at all County Offices and most all Post Offices. They pointed out this is a Fed Waterfowl stamp and it's a Fed requirement, not the states problem to provide them.

She told me to just stop at the Post Office, buy the stamp, attach it to the back of my Kansas License, sign it, and stop worrying about a Texas License endorsement !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that's my plan week after next up cheers

Now if I had the stamp attached to my Texas license and signed, then it would make a difference, I wouldn't need another.

nice collection...

What I don't understand is that the stamps are being haneled by a contractor who is mailing them out... I have no problem paying a few $$$ for habitat protection but how much of this is being siphoned off???

So, I knew nothing about this until this evening when I went to get a new license. The girl at the register started folding up my license for me and I said "hey what about my duck stamp?" When she told me they mailed them, I looked at her like she was smoking the refer! Sure enough, as you all know now Texas is part of this new trial phase. I see both positives and potential negatives to come from this. Yes it is very convienant now to obtain one, but what are you going to do when that 46th day comes and no stamp has arrived??? We are not talking about a state issue, where you can drive over to your local TPW&D office and get the problem solved. My luck would be that this would happen just as I am getting to leave on some kick a$$ hunt.... I don't know though, I am all about using technology to make our lives easier, but if ain't broke don't fix it. It also makes me wonder if this is just another way for the federal govt. to identify hunters/gun owners???? Heck between my CHL and numerous register firearms, it's not like I've been hiding from them. Oh well, just my two pennies worth.

Same here. But I was worried. What happens if they lose your info? Do you go back to where you bought it?

That's why it costs you 17 dollars anywhere but the post office, where it is $15.
