No it's not. Maybe in Austin... I wasn't surprised to hear it on KSTAR, but then I heard it again on KSAM out of huntsville.

Individuals can classify it however they want. People can even make up a classification to help themselves feel more comfortable. However, the country music industry and music industry in general classifies it as country music. That singer is just now making it after lots of years of trying. The money is rolling in big time.

Did a little research on Walker Hayes, born and raised in Mobile, AL. Got a music degree in an AL university and has been writing and recording music in Nashville for the last 20 years or so.
