Bastards are quick, too. A family member had theirs cut out while eating at Red Lobster the other day.

I've done search warrants where the cats were piled up on one side of the shop and the shields were piled up on the other side. They sell the shields for scrap too.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

So you have to drill out the rivets, or pry them loose?

Not rivets. They are a special bit. Yep, bring the drill. Increase exposure, give me more time to catch them. Two knees sticking out from my truck, perfect target. They will need a physical therapist for life if I catch them. "Lucille" or Pew Pew Pew!!!! Build your security in layers make them go to the next truck, probably an easier target. Just sayin!

I don’t know the brand. Go talk to a service person (Mike I think) at Longo Toyota in Prosper. My truck is a company truck they just told us to have it installed.

I have a full bumper skid plate setup from ICON Racing. Not sure if they make anything for your truck. The dealership has already cross threaded 3 of the bolts that hold it on after doing oil changes. Damn degenerates. Good thing it’s held on by like 20 bolts. It’s almost a deterrent for them to do an oil change I’m sure it’s a good deterrent for thieves.

They won’t bring a drill. Thief’s are lazy and go for fast easy targets. They are going to roll under with a sawsall and be done in about 30 seconds. If they had to have a drill, jack, and a saw, they will pass

Two vehicles not to own right now are Tundras and GM trucks. Tundras make up close to half of the cats stolen in Dallas, and GM trucks are getting stolen like crazy.
1 watch at 1 station had 158 stolen vehicles in the month of July, vast majority were GM trucks.

I wonder why the auto makers don't design things to make converters harder to steal?

I was going to ask why Tundra's are favored as well. Easy access??
TXHOGSLAYER had someone bust a thief stealing his Toyota cat yesterday. Got lucky that they ran and left it behind, so it's being welded back in this morning.

I saw the same reports and have a Tundra. I looked at the shields last night and they seem to run $300+. Unless I'm missing something I can get both sets for around the same price. Not sold on the shield yet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3037863350...5O&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYOne of the main reasons the Toyota Tundra is such a target for CC theft is that most of them have four Cats to swipe. But more than the amount of loot is the fact that the Cats are so easily accessible. The factory suspension height is such that thieves can quickly slide under with a saw and take what they please.
But more than anything else, Toyota is known for using more precious metals in their catalytic converters than other OEMs. Platinum, Rhodium, and Palladium act as catalysts to convert harmful gases such as carbon monoxide into less harmful gases like carbon dioxide as well as water. The more materials OEMs use, the higher quality of the part.

You will end up spending much more on new cats, towing, repair labor, down time (shop) than you would if you bought the shields and had them installed at your next oil change. The shields are not full proof but they are a deterrent.
