I am looking for a machinist and with my VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE, he will need to be top notch machinist. Looks like I will have to have a BOLT SHROUD machined, Apparently there are NONE in existence or at least none that I can find. Thanks Daniel

Is this what you are looking for: YES,YES,YES I don't see a machine shop wanting to make a 1 off reverse engineered part. That has mill and lathe work. It also looks like an assembly itself and will have some tight tolerances. Even if you find a drawing you're looking at several hundred $'s in set up cost alone. Machinists work from drawings that are fully dimensioned (with tolerancing) or solid models. Machined articles like this need to be made in qty's of 1,000's or more to get the cost down to less than what you'd pay for a complete bolt assembly. Sorry, but unless you know someone that owns a machine facility that would do you a huge favor and reverse engineer the broken part you may be stuck on high center.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

He's correct, my stuff is all manual so it is probably do-able.
But I was wanting to see a drawing and then fire you a price (if I could do it). Buying another bolt might be cheaper.
I would let you use my mill and lathe if you think you can hack it.

Is the original part metal or plastic?
EDIT: Looked it up and factory part (on Numrich) is blued steel or stainless.

I would not touch either machine, my experience with both has been standing and watching someone else run them, however 20+ years ago I could have fixed the electronics in it. Several have suggested buying another bolt, SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE!!!! Thanks Guys, This is a rebarrel job that has turned into a nightmare. Daniel

If you are paying a gunsmith, why isn't he making it right? Sounds like it was his screw up.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

The original part looks like casting judging from that part line.
I could run that part on one of my machines, but there is no way I could do it and keep it affordable.

Okay, I have a question from the THF guys. Without a different bolt or a new bolt shroud, I am leary of shooting the gun although it will shoot per the gunsmith. I am not even sure of the purpose of the shroud. The gun does have NEW Shilen Match grade barrel on it, what do you think i should do with the gun and new barrel ( 5 shots) through it. 22 inch finished barrel with out the nut . Thanks Daniel.

IF the gunsmith broke it, he need to repair it, replace the bolt (which may result in him having to pull the barrel and redo because the headspace is off), or he needs to replace your action and again he has to start over with the barrel. This is on him to correct his mistake. He should be on the phone/email with his buddies looking for the parts. He should have more industry/parts contacts than you. You may try this board and a person Dangerous Dan. He makes bolt handles, may have other parts. I found this just doing some quick searching https://www.marlinowners.com/threads/aftermarket-parts-for-the-xl7.75418/Have you checked "Pre-Ruger" Marlin service centers? https://www.marlinfirearms.com/s/customerService/#three

J Hills, I registered on MO forum and posted about needing bolt shroud or complete bolt assembly and was banned because I did not have a required number of posts. The Pre-Ruger site , I sent emails to 7 or 8 of the gunsmiths and Marlin parts retailers listed and received 1 response. Gunsmith contacted Ruger and was told they did not buy any parts or hardware in the Marlin deal. Thanks Daniel

Do you have the broken parts? Might not be too hard to make a “working” shroud. Depends on what that little tab does. The thread looks left handed.
