Just got off the phone with my uncle Joel. He laughed and said hi.

I hope he is enjoying retirement as much or more than I am. We spent many a long hour in the old polyethylene plant. Ask him what a DECOMP sounds like, especially when you are in the next reactor bay. The first one I was that close to shook my bones, thankfully I had earplugs in.

In my long list of jobs I forgot a couple of clubs that I worked at, I was the night time manager at a very low class topless bar Dallas Gentleman's club back in the early 90's, friends of mine Randy & Brent Dumas owned it.
I thought it was going to be a pretty cool gig, NOT I was an under-paid baby sitter for a bunch of crazy messed up women.

Now had I worked at an upscale one like the Mens club I bet it would have been a lot more enjoyable.

US Navy then 31 years as a Shop Hand in a Production Machine Shop...new Company President decided I was too old, fat & unhealthy to carry on. So retirement several years ahead of schedule. Lean times but happier times. Closer to family than I would have ever been. Best thing that ever happened to me.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

Just a trucker. Wasted my youth, let me tell you. If I could do life over again I would of got my CDL at the earliest legal age and I would of run in the oil field too. Could have been retired by now.

I was working in a machine shop in Odessa when I was a kid, before I started selling. I was eating lunch with my boss one afternoon. I asked him how he liked running things. He told me he’d been managing a machine shop for thirty years and felt like all he was qualified to do was run a daycare. He said he should have become a salesman. That stuck with me.

Oilfield hand of sorts. Buy some royalty here, sell a lease there, drill a few wells a year. Peaks and valleys.
