I’m not accepting [censored],,, PERIOD….
I didn’t read a single post in this thread past the topic and I say screw anyone that’s willing to cave in on new laws.. I haven’t killed anyone in a long time and nobody’s bending my rights over because a criminal broke the law.. They can pass whatever laws they want to but if the crooks want a gun their getting a gun reagaedless.

Id prefer public hangings be brought back over new gun laws
I do believe it would be a bigger deterrent this. In addition, we need to stop this BS about someone caught red handed and/or admits to a crime (such as rape, murder, child molesting, harming of the elderly with intent) and let them breathe for years before they go to trial. Take them within 1 week to a tree out on the courthouse lawn and just hang them. if they plead not guilty, they have that week to prepare a defense and that's it. Then walk that sorry sack of c rap out to the tree and hang them. I guarantee that will stop a lot of this BS we see every day. It will damned sure stop repeat offenders.

Shotguns and bolt action rifles no change
Handguns a week long class , pass written and hands on test . This is not a permit to carry
Automatic rifles a 2 week class, pass written and hands on test

I think it’s a good idea. Let’s get rid of most of the gun laws we have. That’s the reform we need.

Criminals don’t obey laws! Law abiding citizens don’t need any more gun laws.

This is what Canada does Move to canada then. When we have a two week class on what your vote actually means, or even just basic civics (i would guess half the current HS graduates can not even name all three parts of govt system or a basic premise on how to change the constitution)….then still no.

None not budging.
The majority of younger people are on some mood altering drug for depression, anxiety etc. And spend 8 hours a day on a computer or plugged into the internet, this is the problem. These kids have had everything given to them and thinking done for them.
Look around no kids play outside or interact with others, their faces are looking at a screen being entertained or told what to do/think. The problem isn't the firearm it's the nut behind the trigger. I could keep going on but you get my point. We as a nation and responsible gun owner need to stand our ground.

Full auto UZIs and MP-5's are on the streets of Chicago (which isn't far from Canada) And that city as some of the strictest gun laws in the country, as well as one of the highest murder rates in the world. I haven’t recently looked but I have in the past. 1. Does their constitution regarding firearms look at all like ours? If not, and I suspect it doesn’t nothing else really matters The rest is just past recallings… -Canada banned pistols years ago, they can’t be sold or traded and if you owned one at the time you are grandfathered in. -They can posses AR type rifles, w an 18” barrel and can ONLY be used at an approved facility. No plinking on your own land or hunting w on your own land.

Oh, I have one simple fix. Require that mental health professionals submit patient summaries into the NICS database. That way, when a person who is under psychiatric care, or has counseling or therapy for mental health problems decides that he's gonna buy a gun and go on a rampage, they get flagged by the background check and stopped from an 'easy' purchase.
Of course, liberals would denounce this as an unwarranted invasion of privacy for those patients.

Canada.......givemeafreakingbreak. Weak, weak answers. Zero problems in Canada. And THFs answer to that is move to Canada. Wow. Not a useful comparison until you discuss the differences in the US vs Canada such as demographics, population density MUCH lower than the US, etc. I would not be in favor of any training class either as the government can't manage anything well plus the libs would abuse the process. I know little about "Red Laws" and agree with whomever mentioned coming down hard on anyone posting threats on social media (or other means) but am still concerned with how that could be abused. The immediate step to me is stepping up enforcement of current laws and having DAs actually prosecute criminals. Until that is done, no amount of new laws will have any desired outcome.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

How about putting psychopaths in an old fashioned insane asylum? And turning jail and prison back into punishment? Supposedly years back, prisons were " reformed " from punishment into "rehabilitation " How's that been working out?
Let's stop making excuses and enabling those that won't obey the laws of a civilized society.
JMHO- there's more than enough laws on the books already. How about a little bit of enforcement and and proscribed punishment for the full ride?

how bout if you have a kid of any age that has mental problems or has been arrested for something like assault with intent, you become responsible along with them if you have not reported them and tried to get help for them, same for leo that release a kid back into public after any mental behavior that led to leo being called. too many times these people had warning signs but no one stepped up to report or treat them. no idea of the percentage but it is high for mental problems with the shooters and parkland is a prime example. Before massacre, Uvalde gunman frequently threatened teen girls online https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/28/uvalde-shooting-gunmen-teen-girls/the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality has to stop, kids need punishment when called for, need to realize not everyone comes in first, sometimes you just don't get what you want etc. there are a lot of common traits when it comes to school shooters and mass shooters in general, no one had the cajones to report them.
