We all see where this is going. Maybe someone could do a poll for more answers.

I will go first.
About the only thing I could get onboard with is moving rifle age to 21. I just don’t think kids (18 year olds) are mature as they were 20-30 years ago.

I’m not against this, and like you I can think of no other. The problem is criminals will obtain weapons by any means necessary. They’re criminals, laws are irrelevant, except to the law abiding.

That’s why I would say none.

The focus should not be firearms.

I agree on the maturity. But if we're doing that than voting ought to be 21. Regardless, changing purchases to 21 won't fix the issue.

Make it mandatory for every male over 21 to carry.

No way this discussion remains civil.

There are no firearm laws that need to be added or changed. Period! This creep had the $ to get anything he wanted legally or illegally regardless of his age.

My argument against raising it to 21 is there are a lot of people who move out to live on their own at 18. How are they supposed to protect themselves? I suppose you could say no rifles but shotguns could be allowed. Does that solve anything related to school shootings? No, but nothing will until we fix the crazy problem, as we all know this isnt a tool issue its a person issue.

Anytime you hear someone suggest limits on guns, ages, rules, training, licenses, etc, just flip that to say the same thing for any other Constitutional right (speech, voting, whatever) and see how they change their story quickly.

That why I thought a poll may bring out more answers.

Old enough to server in the military, old enough to own a gun. Training/certification to purchase may not be a bad thing but I can't recall a shooting situation that it would have changed.

Education. Most of us were raised around guns and never had issues. Also education on firearm storage. That can’t be regulated though…but I did see some billboards recently saying to be sure your guns are locked up, especially if you have teens/younger in the house. A lot of these shootings happen from extremely easily accessible firearms.

The only real regulation I could see being able to be OK with, would be a waiting period to receive your purchase. Example being with suppressors, it takes a few months to move along. I wouldn’t personally have an issue with things like semi auto rifles having a wait after you submit everything and pay. Would help take the impulsiveness out of usage of the firearm

Hey, i am all for all kinds of restrictions on voting rights too: pass a basic civics test, land ownership, legal citizen, minor details; and while those things may he popular among a lot of us here it doesn’t mean those ideas would be made law and there is no way the anti-2A crowd would go for that in any manner.

So why should the pro-2A crowd accept anything more than what is already out there?

Sure gun ownership comes with responsibility , but so does voting, and we have seen so many not take that responsibility with the heaviness it does. We don’t require any kind of special training, or extra steps taken by people to vote, so there should be no extra training required for gun ownership. Personal responsibility needs to be present for both, and the last thing i want is the govt interfering with either.

Id prefer public hangings be brought back over new gun laws

I do believe it would be a bigger deterrent

But the 18 year old can join the Army or Marine Corps and they will hand him a rifle. Hell they will hand him a S.A.W. or a tank for that matter!

Crucify and impale people along the major highways. Put people in stocks for lesser offenses.

But I wonder if less people committed crimes when there were public hangings.

procraft05 would you want people to hang by long drop, short drop or like use cranes and just winch them up off the ground?

I always thought the pole hanging method was interesting. Same with garrote.

Unpopular opinion here, maybe.

"shall not be infringed"

All gun laws are unconstitutional, repeal them all, repeal the NFA. Anyone should be able to own a firearm, even people that have rehabbed and served their time (like actually done the time and rehabbed) , bring the death penalty hard and fast, no rapists , no child pervs, if you murder someone you get the same right back. Clean up the gene pool, drain the swamp, let the good prevail.

But hey that's just me, I wouldn't presume to know what's right for you and your family.

I also feel, we have plenty of gun laws that are not enforced properly. If you’re illegally in possession of a firearm or use a firearm in a crime, minimum 20 years in federal prison.

Exactly

I vote for following the constitution. “ shall not be infringed “

Harden the schools, pay for all the uniformed LE needed to get the job done, allow teachers to carry if they choose to

And at the end of the day, there will be days when evil prevails

I thought NY tried the 21 age requirement and the SC struck it down as unconstitutional. 18 yr olds are expected to be man enough to fight in wars.

California, and yes, stuck down as unconstitutional.
