It is one of those deals where you have to ask yourself, what are the chances that I will get my boar of a lifetime in February?

Yes, but a low 300 may get you a nice check That top spot is lotto type luck Anyway, we are doing it and will have a good time doing it My son is tagging along with us this year for the first time

Yes, but a low 300 may get you a nice check A low 300 is a hog of a lifetime for most folks which many/most have never attained. So will Feb be the month? Makes me wonder if he winner has been fed in a pen? They will lie detector winners to help prevent that sort of cheating. What isn't cheating is running a feeder on an isolated property and heavy feeding a local boar or boars for the last few months in anticipation of the contest. Some guys will intentionally not shoot the largest of their hogs and hope they will still be around for contests such as this. I keep on top of my properties as best I can. As such, most of what I am seeing are below 200 and most of those are below 150. Would not do much good for me to enter unless I find some large, isolated property that hasn't been hunted in years that might have a nice, juicy, unhunted population of hogs.

I believe that last year’s contest had a few hogs over 400 lbs. and several in the high 300’s. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one that big. The largest we’ve killed on my place was 247 lbs. and he was enormous. Most are 150 lbs. or less.

There weren’t any 400 pounders brought in last year ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/01/full-19291-330435-a9e4f9d0_69cb_4964_8f56_2f8c1bdd2ae1.png)

Makes me wonder if he winner has been fed in a pen? The grand prize is sure enough to motivate someone less than honorable to do something shady to win.

Thanks for the information Procraft05. I must have been looking at the 24hr contest. They had a few over 400.

A buddy and I entered up for the 3th year in a row. Its only $100 a man , better chance of getting in the money than buying lotto tickets and adds a lot of excitement to the hunts for us. I killed a 320 lb boar in January before the first year we entered. There are sows around this year that look like volkswagens.

I had a customer a few years ago that's team placed 3rd and they still got like a $5000 check or something like that. But they spent a lot nights in the woods.
