aggie, the photo above is the NXS Compact 2.5-10x42 with MOAR reticle. It is SFP. While I have several NF’s in various sizes and configurations, I tend to use that one the most lately due to lightest weight to carry. I am considering moving a NX8 to that rifle as it is such a good do everything scope. fwiw - Nightforce rings or Spuhr are the most durable and reliable I’ve used and won’t slip or crack if mounted and torqued correctly. They are worth the money. Euro Optic usually has the best inventory of Nightforces. They are great people to deal with. If you end up not liking a Nightforce, they are easy to sell. I’ve bought many of mine used and never had any issues. https://www.eurooptic.com/nightforce-riflescopes.aspxHere are all of the Nightforce reticles. Click on the ones you like to see what models use that particular reticle. https://www.nightforceoptics.com/technology/reticles

I hunt predators a LOT. I also have quite a few FFP scopes and I have even used them for predators but when it’s serious predator hunting.... I always pull out the second focal scopes because for me in thick brush and mostly moving and many times multiple targets I want 3-4x field of view and aiming point I can see. Night time same deal need a reticle that’s easy to see under red light and some quality glass.
I deer hunt with FFP scopes often but if there is thick brush or timber like I see elk hunting it’s SFP for me.

Mile high has NF on sale right now (looks to be about a 10% discount) if you are shopping for one. No affiliation, just got an email yesterday about them.

Well, I just went ahead and bought two NX8s, the 1-8 with FC-MIL and the 4-32 with MIL-C. The 1-8 will go on my 6.8 spc SBR and the 4-32 will be going on a new, plain stupid toy

Great timing of this thread
I'm shopping another NX8 or my first ATACR
still going back n forth on FFP or 2FP
FFP reticle sure is tiny at low power for hunting.

For hunting look at the march 3-24x42. It checks all the boxes, also the reticle basically turns into a easy to see plex when zoomed out. I've run them all and still love my nightforce's, but that march is far and away my favorite!

It's not one of your original options, but have you looked at the Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 with the illuminated reticle? Most Nightforce reticles leave a lot to be desired, but the illuminated Forceplex is a plain duplex. It's the scope that Leupold should be building.

FFP reticle sure is tiny at low power for hunting. I have the NX8 4-32 F1 Buzz, if you wanna look through it shoot the gun I’ll brang it out.. not much difference to me between the Nx8 and the ATACR, functionally wise and looking through the glass I can’t see much difference, the atacr has more travel being a larger tube and all.. they say the parallax is touchy on the Nx8 but I haven’t seen any scope not be touchy that goes above about 20x Just my opinion, you can almost buy 2 nx8 for what one atacr cost..

My ATACR is picky about the focus knob 0-300 yards. Once you get focused for 300 yards, you're probably not going to touch it again out to 1000. It's weird, but in a good way.

I have a NX8 2.5-20 FFP on my 6.5-284 and love it. The lower power scope works better for me.

Go FFP
It would suck to have to use 32X for your reticle to be correct. Night Force over Leupold every time.
Keep it set on 4X, get your quarry in the scope, turn up magnification until you like it. Hold, shoot. ^^^this^^^

I have a long term love affair with NF, but no way they didn’t make serious compromises to cram a 8x mag range in a scope that short. Probably not as easy to get behind. Plus, there is very little need to 32x anything out in the field. You are getting into used F1 4-16x42 ATACR money, which is a no brainer.
