That looks like a fine, well bred French Brittany. French Brittany is always the right answer on the what dog should I get posts! Labs are hard to beat if you don’t mind the hair.

After having three spaniels, I got a lab to pick up ducks. She’s bar none the best dog I’ve ever had. She’s a pleaser where the spaniels were always a constant negotiation to get them to do what was wanted. If I can pull it off, we’ll have pleasers from here on out. The wife HATES the hair but adores the dog. We’ll likely get a Doodle of some nature because that solves that problem. You have to do the research on the generations because the first gens shed more. I’d love to have a golden or Irish setter but then I’m back to the hair deal. Few dogs mentioned I wouldn’t have if you gave it to me Also, might be worth checking as some home owners policies will not cover certain breeds. My current one wouldn’t allow a Shepard and 11 other breeds.

Vizsla? Mine are water lovers, like the boat and good in the house. Hardly any hair or shedding and take the heat well.

Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Fitz and Hogslayer are right on it, but I will add a Golden Doodle to the mix. If TD were a dog breeder, you might want to consider a Goober Doodle.

Boxer is an excellent choice. Extreme heat is a consideration for some. My big male Boxer thinks he is a lab. He loves the water more than any dog I have ever had. They are very smart too. A bit of experience in dog training is helpful. My female is smart as a whip, but headstrong.

Get 2 Jack Russells. The smartest dogs I have ever owned. Fearless! Think they are ten foot tall and bullet proof. Loyal! You can't get close to the owner with out a warning. Problem solvers! How did you get your toy off the top of the refrigerator anyway. And always get two because they can play together and not wear the owner out. The best companion you will ever have next to a good wife.

The best companion you will ever have next to a good wife. There was a Jack Russell thread quite a while ago. Half the people said they were the smartest, best dogs they ever had. The other half said they were spawn of the devil, and the breed should be eradicated.
