I have never seen or heard of a WT and Axis being found locked up, although I would think it would be possible. I have seen two videos of axis and whitetail bucks fighting before. This was back in the late 90's. One was a very mature South Texas whitetail main frame 8pt fighting what looked like a 3 or 4 yr old axis buck. The WT buck was larger bodied than the axis, but the axis just literally shoved him all over the place. You could see the WT sliding backing was when the axis decided to push him. I was on another ranch in the Hill Country and the owner had just found two axis bucks locked up from fighting. The bucks had been dead a while, but they were locked facing each other eye to eye. He had the skulls cleaned up and then left locked up as an euro mount.
