Scarface is on the wall!

Spent a lot more time at the ranch during 2020 preseason thanks to covid so I was able to pattern him pretty good. I chose to sit in a 10' tripod looking over a corn feeder at 30 yards. Connected with him 15 minutes into the bow season at 27 yards. Doubt I'll ever see another one as unique.

And the one time I seen him in 2019 but passed during rifle season. I took my brother in law out to harvest a deer and I grabbed my ar in hopes of making a dent in the hog population. I couldn't pull the trigger on him then and kicked myself for not doing it but glad it worked out in the long run.

I wish I knew how. I have pics of him that same October without the injury. Here's another one on 12/16/18. As you can see in this pic we have axis in this area. I've watched them push Whitetail off a feeder unless it's a mature Whitetail, they will hold their ground, I've seen that multiple times but never seen them lock horns. Definitely a possibility though.

I have seen bucks that are really bad about fighting get their face and head torn up.....but not quite that bad. I think it was from fighting though on this buck. White hair is usually the sign of a wound or injured spot on a deer IME.

Axis & Whitetails won’t exactly lock antlers, but I have seen them posture & shove each other around a bit.

I have never seen or heard of a WT and Axis being found locked up, although I would think it would be possible. I have seen two videos of axis and whitetail bucks fighting before. This was back in the late 90's. One was a very mature South Texas whitetail main frame 8pt fighting what looked like a 3 or 4 yr old axis buck. The WT buck was larger bodied than the axis, but the axis just literally shoved him all over the place. You could see the WT sliding backing was when the axis decided to push him. I was on another ranch in the Hill Country and the owner had just found two axis bucks locked up from fighting. The bucks had been dead a while, but they were locked facing each other eye to eye. He had the skulls cleaned up and then left locked up as an euro mount.
