I'm 6' 0", starting weight 278.2 on April 1st. I'm a few pounds down already but I'm sure that's mostly water weight. Today I was at 267.6 . I'll try to go into a little more detail about my diet and exercise tomorrow. I'm not really cutting back any macro other than refined sugar. Still eating fat and carbs. I'm focusing on calories in vs calories out and walking, will start back into light weight lifting in a month or so too.

That was at 11:49 PM. Do you still feel the same this morning?

Feeling good this morning too, 265.9 which sounds like a lot, but I was hovering at 267.2 for several days. I guess after a few dumps the scale catches up all at once. I always weigh in dry with no water first thing in the morning.

I walk 100 miles per month it keeps me in shape and feeling good

Usually walk out the door around 6am. Walk a little over 3 miles each morning.

I will do that until December when it gets too cold, then chill out for a couple of months. Start back walking March.

Sometime in January / February I will hit the gym pretty hard

That a boy!!

I hit 240 after being down for a few months after a couple surgeries. Back riding bike and doing sandbag works outs. Big fan of sand bags, really easy to adjust weight.

Great results...... Keep it up.

I started the Keto diet on 1-3-21. Weighed a little over 240 something. I hit 215 about 2 weeks ago and that was more than I thought I would lose.

My first step was to calculate my sedentary Metabolic rate without any activity modifiers. I visited several calculators and equations. I settled on the mayo clinic calculator. It had me at 2300 calories if I do nothing extra in terms of exercise.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/weight-loss/in-depth/calorie-calculator/itt-20402304

Second step was to get a myfitnesspall account and a food scale. Always verify the myfitnesspal caloric values in their database with the food scale and label. I set a target of a 300 calorie deficit per day, so 2000 calories. However I'm finding that I can keep myself full by eating 4 times a day and hitting around 1550 calories. I track everything, from every spoonful of half and half and squirt of ketsup. I find foods that I like that can feed me for 300-600 calories.

For instance I ate 2 little "swaggarty's" sausage biscuits this morning for 270 calories plus a coffee with 70 calories worth of creamer in it. I could have eaten better less fat and carb dense foods to get more full for the same calories but I am leaning towards flavor right now. When I start lifting weights I anticipate my appetite will increase and if that happens I might have to adjust my choices to get higher satiation (more full) per meal. Last night I had a Whataburger double junior hamburger for dinner, it was 430 calories, but that's it no sweet tea, no fries, just water with it.

I'd say the main thing I'm doing is counting and using artificial sweeteners in my coffee and other recipes.

Weight loss is a simple game. You simply exert (burn) more calories that you consume. I have been a bodybuilder for over 30 years and I still vary my winter and summer weight by 25 lbs. It is amazing how quickly one can lose weight by just eliminating sugar and alcohol and adding an extra workout day to your week.

You did what?

Sugar is the devil and they will put tons on it food we eat.

Alcohol is fine, just drink hard liquor I enjoy whiskey or blend of whiskeys, No sugar in most hard liquors. I do not drink beer anymore. The hard seltzers are zero sugar now of days, but I would rather have a whiskey/diet coke.

Funny you should mention sleep, it's a major component of my program! I have to get 6.5 hrs+, and it's been working out good.

265.1 today

Weight is coming off a little too fast right now, I think I'll up the calories to 1700.

263.9 today.

Going to start lifting a little weight May 3rd. Next week starting tomorrow, I'm going to walk through the plan everyday but just doing the 2 warm up sets per exercise and one kind of real set but not to failure. I better let the muscles know I'm coming or it could get ugly. grin

Pretty easy if you get on keto. Eat lots of meats and fats. The fats will kill your hunger pains.

After a few weeks you really never get hungry anymore

I started a month ago.
I walk every morning, have for years. About two miles per day.

I cut out sugar, fried foods and cut way down on beef and pork. Fish and chicken are my main proteins now.
Also cut high fat foods like cheese, cream to a minimum. Out on white bread too. Now only eating the whole grain type.

It's working but it's slow going and it's tough.

I've started using the MyPlate calorie counter app. It helps track each day's cosumption.

Good luck to you! I dropped from 265 to 180 and have kept it off for two years. I dropped all mine by using CICO method. Only regret is that I didn't keep track of or eat enough protein during my cut and lost a lot of muscle I'm having to gain back. Up your protein a lot so you don't lose the muscle you have. Myfitnesspal app was a huge help for me. A little tedious at first but easy and fun as I got used to logging.

Keto is the easiest way to eat, and one of the fastest and most effective way to loose weight, if you combine it with just walking each day.

My wife went from 107 to 92 lbs in 2 months. Couple years ago I had gained and started the keto routine which I found to be my lifestyle now of days.

Now I walk about 9 months out of the year when it's not cold outside and eat a diet free from sugar, most carbs and lots of meat and cheese and fats and oils.

My favorite meals are Rib Eye and Lamb Chops, on the rare side.

I'm up one pound today. 264.1, but I started eating low carb wraps last night and I think I might be full of veggies that will come out in the next poop. With smoked deli turkey they are so low calorie and delicious I had to have two giant (due to the romaine) ones. Picked up some Newman's Ginger Sesame 17cal for one tbsp it's amazing. I also had a bigger bicep workout to failure; I think there might be a full half pound of muscle on each bicep this morning confused2 bs but seriously they are popping like when I was 22!

Once I get full into my Keto I can take a dump and not have to use toilet paper, your feces is hard like a rock and looks like a crawdad mound.
I get on a one time a day taking a dump in the morning, It a good feeling to empty your bowels complety.

Completely normal to be heavier after starting weight training.

If you have a chance and are interested I’d recommend reading “The Obesity Code”. Learned a lot of things I never new about how the body works especially regarding weight loss and keeping the weight off. Started my journey on February 1st and am down 50 pounds as of this morning.

I've got fat as a hog this year. I can't seem to make my self work out or eat right. I have some major changes to make. I've to old to be out of shape like I am.

Thanks, Billy

Keep it up Gravy. Over the last year I've become fatter and more out of shape than I've ever been in my life. I'm now 265lbs @ 5'11". Sick of it. My healthy "In shape" weight is 225-230 lbs. Goal is to get back there. I was there before the Rona, but let myself totally go over the last year.

I started a new diet this last Monday, and making some pretty big lifestyle changes as well. Warming back up on the weights now, and about to get back into my old routine of weight training and power walking 5 days a week along with healthy diet.

This is the kind of personal trainer I'm looking for. Large, older, Russian, and female would also be pluses. A bullwhip would be a nice touch.

Same. Know I need to do something, but can't get motivated enough. But being old, fat, and hurting all over is getting old......

That is awesome GT keep it up. I've been on my journey to getting back in shape since Jan 1. I've gone from 190 to 156 (I'm 5'7"). Don't get discouraged when you hit your plateau. It will take some time to push through it but this is normal. It's your body's way of recalibrating itself to what it thinks your weight should be. My weight likes to settle at around 170. So I got to 170 really fast and then it took me about 3-4 weeks to push past that and start loosing weight again. I'm at my target weight now and have switched to building lean muscle for better definition. Nutrition is key, stick to whole/natural foods. I don't worry too much about fat, carbs, sugars but I do watch my calorie and sodium intake Try to stay away from processed foods/meats and limit the beer (this is my biggest challenge) and the weight is easy to keep off.

Good luck with your journey!

You will feel so much better when you are done. I'm 42, was 265 two years ago, and 175 today. I can do more push-ups today than when I was in the army. Its great.

255.7 today.

I'm considering a diet pause at calorie maintenance levels when I hit 250 which is a 10% body weight loss. Basically I'd try to ease up my calories and "live at that weight" for a month. Supposedly it has a few benefits. One helping keep the weight off long term since your body is trained on how to come out of a calorie deficit without going back to your old ways (you're off the deficit but still eating with purpose to maintain the weight).

Two and this is major, it gives the skin a chance to catch up with the weight loss which can reduce the amount of loose skin you are left with after 120lb weight loss. And yes I said 120, so far keeping the diet has been so easy that my new "goal" is 160 which is 3 lbs lighter than my lightest adult weight when I got out of basic training at 19.

Three it can help me get and stay jacked, and I want to be lighter but I don't want to be weak, and I want to look good too. Going back to maintenance calories (that's plus 1000 calories a day for me) can give the muscles that boost they need in my weight lifting program every few months. Basically I can tailor my weight lifting program so that my level of effort crescendos into this caloric increase.

Do you guys think I should take diet pauses every 10% of body weight?

Seefood diet? See food and eat it?
I went on a diet of no fried foods once for 3 weeks. All I lost was 21 days.

LOL, I've been sticking to my diet pretty well but yesterday I just didn't feel like another salad. I decided it was cheat day. I love fried food and I love liver, so I ran into town and picked up a dozen fried chicken livers/fried okra/extra gravy & jalapenos. Man it was good. Now, back to the salad.....

Good work Gravy, keep it up!

Yesterday I was punching holes in a skidsteer I last used mid march. My belly just rubs against the safety bar now, it used to sit on top of it!

66.3 pounds down total as of this AM since 1st of February. Picked up the cardio the last 3 weeks getting ready for an elk hunt in September. Walk, shoot, bike, shoot, walk, swim, sleep, and repeat. 8-10 miles/day. If I can keep this pace up I think my legs will be ready.

[Linked Image]

4 shots @ 40 yards after 6 mile/30min bike ride. I’ll take it with elevated heart rate.

[Linked Image]

I lost over 100 before COVID and pissed I gained 80 of it back sitting on my [censored] drinking and stressed out.

Hang in, there are periods where you dont change anything, you will hit a wall. Just keep at it, your body will start burning fat again.

My Dr, told me NOT to workout yet because my calorie intake is so low 600-800 cals per day. Losing a pound a day but this morning I was the same as yesterday morning.

GravyT, how often to you weigh? Necked or with jammies?

What’s included in a 600-800 calorie diet?

two nutrition bars, one nutrition shake and one meal of all the veggies you can stuff in your mouth. I usually eat a BIG salad with cucumbers, cauliflower tomatoes, mushroom's, butter lettuce mix. Olive oil and Balsamic vinegar.

I have meetings with dietitians and shrinks every month, for support. The company is Vitality Weight loss and Wellness. I also take a Phentermine pill every morning. It kills my voracious apatite for carbs REALLY well. In fact, I have to force myself to eat the bars and drink the shakes. If I don't eat bars an shakes, I will pass out, blood pressure drops.

I will be on this till I get to 200#, then HOPEFULLY by then I will be able to control my cravings and apatite, learned to eat normal and eat Carbs in moderation. Try to maintain my weight loss.
Believe me its hard, I've done it a million times but NEVER kept it all off.

I guess I'm lucky I'm addicted to food, NOT pills, drugs, booze, cigarettes'.

I weigh in right when I wake up right after I take a pee, no water and in my under ware only.

232.1 this morning.

A couple weeks ago I started walking 3.5 miles a day (three 1.2mi walks). I'm still doing 1300-1400 calories most days. 2000 on a cheat day once every 2-3 weeks.

I found myself hospitalized in March. I was 222 pounds. I immediately cut out beef pork sugar and salt. Drank mainly water. Ate low carb meals mostly baked fish and chicken with a pile of salad or other veggies. In 90 days I was down to 177. Waist went from 38-40 down to 32. I maintain 180 pretty easily. This was all diet as I haven't begun to work out yet. I figure with a good exercise program I should plateau at about 170.

I think the last time I weighed 222 I was wearing 32x38’s. I’d just like to see 235 again. I’m down from 270 to 245. If I make it to 225 I can maintain a healthy weight. I quit drinking beer during the week and eating less fried food, plus lifting weights with my oldest son. I’m walking a couple of miles a day while he runs. It’s coming off pretty quickly.

Great job!

you lost 70# in 4 months? That's great.

I'm down 39# since June 3rd. On a great program now. Mental fixin is what I need now. I'm working with dietitians and therapist, trying to figure out ways to keep me from binging like I always did.

I did, and I wasn't near as committed as when I lost all the weight the 1st time. All comes down to cutting sugars, salts, and carbs; but having enough carbs and sugars to fuel the body but get into fat burn. Anyway, it's worked for me. Keep it up. 39# is nothing to shake a stick at. I'm in the same boat. I enjoy food and need to figure out the balance of enjoying it and not putting a bunch of weight back on.

Got 67 miles in last week on the bike and feet. Feeling pretty good about my elk hunt. I've hit my goal weight, but I'd like to drop 10 more pounds before the hunt. Feel like I'm loosing inches based on how clothes are fitting, but not really dropping weight. Probably adding muscle with all the cardo. confused2
