I am having a 300 PRC built at Alamo... I own 15lb rifles and don't want another; however optics are probably more important to me than the rifle itself. I have Nightforce on several rifles and love them. I have ATACRs with giant 35MM tubes and FFP but they are quite heavy. Want to keep the FFP... Like Nightforce.... Want to save weight... Must have good glass... Must be Mil Mil (Thanks for getting me sorted out on this a couple years back Jason). Any ideas for those parameters as a guide??? Stick with NF? Other good glass??

I'm not sure the weight of all of them. Give NF NX8 a look. Took it back to a 30mm tube and a 50mm objective.
The SHV F-1 is pretty dang good. The turrets don't have hard clicks, they're a little soft. But the ones I've used load developing customers rifles tracked just fine and returned to zero.
Good glass, good internals, FFP all rolled into one scope, along with light weight still doesn't exist, unfortunately.

FFP and light(er) = March

You may want more scope, but the 4-16x42 ATACR is 30oz. You're not going to beat that by much and stay FFP, IMO. The March F is 3-24 is 24oz, could be an option. Bushnell LRHS/LRTS is ~26-27oz

I'm just imagining such a rifle (too poor to buy one, yet!) and I would think having the broadest range of magnification would be more important criteria than a few ounce. Something like a the nightforce nx8 2.5-20 seems tailor made for this application. I assume nightforce's reputation for durability extend to this line and 24 vs 28 oz, I guess I ain't a _______ so the weight seems negligible. A 500-600yds kill shot seems very doable with this rifle and 20x. There's a 3-18x trijicon that seems like an "ultimate hunting" scope to me but i'm a trijicon fanboy.
In today's market, i think some of the these 6 to 8 times magnifiers are some the coolest scopes regardless the precise scope.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Bushnell LRHS/LRTS is ~26-27oz Bushnell does make some really good stuff. I've got a 5 year old EHS, and still use it weekly.

Sounds like a hunting rifle build? If Alamo is building it ..it aint.gonna be cheap, but I see the problem. Need the weight reduction but want magnification. There are plenty of good choices, but most.will be heavy. I would look at Leupold VX6 HD series, but not sure if they come in Mil ?

I don’t remember where he bought it though. No reason to pay retail for optics. To many drop shippers out there that will sell just a touch over cost. You just have to put in the work making calls because they won’t advertise due you MAP protections

I'm just saying for that kind of suggested $, from a known company, I would expect it to be pretty good, even against Swaro, etc.

They pretty much suck at turrets and reticles.

On a budget, the Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 is a solid option at ~27oz. Stepping up a bit you could try the Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 at 26oz. Stepping up a lot you could look at the Tangent Theta long range hunter at ~27oz.
