1850's Montana No kneelers and BLM sympathizers to bother me. Gone hungry, most game was gone by then, 1950’s, you could still hunt grizz, and Reservations where calm I’d be there or Wyoming in the 1950’s. Hi neighbor HEY!!!

I would have liked to back it up to where I could have hunted East Africa before it was shut down. 1950-60s would have probably worked for me.
Thanks, Billy

I would like to have seen Texas through the eyes of my ancestors.
After the war for independence from Mexico they described west Texas as a ocean of waist high waving grass as far as the eye could see. A lone cotton wood tree might be your sole landmark for 10-15 miles. There was little or no mesquite.

The "Then versus Now" thread got me thinking....what decade and location would you like to have lived in and why?
For me, I am still contemplating historical events and locations that I would like to have been a witness to.....
So, for you, since the Declaration of Independence:
1. What decade would you like to have been alive for? 2. What location? 3. Why? The road lease taken reminds you and this thread to a tea. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/44272/the-road-not-BY ROBERT FROST Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Probably the 1870's or 1880's when the West was being opened up and there were still springs in West Texas. 1840's during the fur trade in the Rockies would have been cool too.

What decade would I like to live in would take some thought. However I would love to have seen certain places in time such as the U.S. in the 1700s, ancient Greece and the ancient wonders of the world and Rome when the coliseum was active. It would be incredible to actually see some of the history that shaped the world and the ancient empires and kingdoms. Agree with this....too hard to pick one for me. Post Civil War South, Ancient Greece and Rome, Old England with the Knights, the Roaring 20's, Christ in his final years traveling and performing miracles......all would be amazing to witness. Although, like someone else posted, I like my AC and creature comforts and technology of today.

If I had to pick a different time and place, I'd go to Russia in the 1970s to see what it was like behind the iron curtain.

50's were good to me as a child. Simple enough, but we had conveniences and healthcare made big strides then. There was still unspoiled wilderness and hunting and fishing was far more accessible than it is today.

My decade would be 1830 - 1836. I would have loved to experience the Anglo settling of Texas. To travel this state at that time would have been amazing. See the Indians of the plains. The Indians of the coast. Indians of west Texas. Then to get to be a part of the Alamo would be truly historic. That would be my pick.
Second would be living among the great Sioux tribes of the plains.

I firsthand diary from a trip exploring Texas by a young German scientist....his descriptions of the landscape, people, flora and fauna are detailed and fascinating. One of my all time favorites books. Jes
