Once you've got them, take a flea bath in regular old dog shampoo....works great
A friend of mine who's hunted a ton in Africa and many other parts of the world swears by it, he showers with it before he hunt's. While all the flea's from the hog's were jumping on us he remained flea free and made a killing selling the rest of the shampoo to us the rest of the week.
I wasn't doing to say anything, but I always get chiggers BAD.... Friend told me to do it.... not one chigger yet this year..... One suggestion the puppy flea shampoo is a little easier on your skin.. I really feel werid now... o'well 100 yards of clearing a fence row couple weeks back and not on chigger or tick...

We also use the sulfur in a sock.

I use 7dust on my legs, and in my socks for "chiggers". Also I wipe my huting boots down with olive oil before I go in the wilderness. So far this has worked for me just fine. I keep a sock full of baking soda in my blind to dust off with as needed.
I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!

If you have chiggers, Tea Tree Oil will kill the itch and reduce the welt. Look for it in the vitamin section at the drug store, it works well.
Use it sparingly!!

I can't believe noone suggested this (WTGuide came close)
EAT GARLIC - lot's of it.
I'm dead serious. Garlic will make you taste bad to them. Also works for mosquitoes, fleas, & ticks.
