Iput mine in the microwave. But that's not why I'm replying to this thread.
I grew up on a cotton farm in Arkansas. We ate field corn and loved it, but that's not the reason I'm replying to this thread. We discovered yellow sweet corn. Loved it. Later a new honey and wheat G -90 was developed. It goes by different names today. Corn has no more than a 3 day window before its harvested.
Love the HEB sweet corn. Tried a Walmart corn. Walmart somehow went wrong. They had the yellow 4 day corn. Made a special trip back to HEB just for the corn and ketchup. Look it up.

Remove husk and silk, cover the corn in real butter, wrap in foil and grill. The corn will pick up some char marks through the foil. Unwrap add salt and pepper to taste.

It’s a staple in my casa. Buy the ears husk on and soak in water for a couple hours. Put on the grill/pit until done, pull husk and silk off, add butter and sprinkle with either lemon pepper or Fremin’s Magic Dust. Can’t get enough of it. As much as I love Magic Dust, there is something about butter and lemon pepper on roasted corn that is perfect IMO.
I also sometimes like adding Butter Buds and chili powder.

Sweet corn is a lot like sex to me. The worst I've ever had was wonderful.

Skinnerback, I have a slight alteration to yours. Use mayo instead of butter, the magic dust, maybe some black pepper. I scoffed at it when my ex-girlfriend did it once. Then I tried it. I’ll admit, I was wrong. Dead wrong.

Have to agree that mayo is pretty tasty on corn, I was a skeptic the first time a buddy made it but its worth a try for sure

Three day window to harvest is correct for field corn, this new hybrid sweet corn is good 7- 10 days maybe 14 some years.

I remove husk and silk from mine, rub with cold butter so it gets in all the cracks. Grill them until done and get some char on them. Then top with a lime creama sauce I make, queso fresco cheese, cilantro, and smoked paprika. It is extremely good.

I also sometimes like adding Butter Buds and chili powder. This is pretty close to how I do mine. I cut the silk off the end of the corn after soaking so it won't burn and then put on the grill. Once done we shuck and pull the silk then cut ours off the cob more than we eat it on the cob. I need to look for an Elote recipe so I can try that...I love that stuff.

We’re purists around here. Butter and salt. We mostly cook it in the microwave too. If you trim the stalk end correctly it’ll pop right out of the husk when it’s done.

I always just throw them on the coals husk on until done. No butter nothing, good sweet corn doesn't need all of that other stuff IMO What does soaking them in water for a couple of hours do?

^^^ I like to think it adds a little moisture as well. We wrap them in wet paper towels for the microwave.

Moisture makes sense too although mine have never seemed dry, just wait for the husk to turn golden brown and your good to go.

Not sure purist and microwave has ever used in the same sentence from your generation Cast The water definitely helps the shuck from burning but I think it gives the corn a steamed effect too.
