My concerns exactly!!!! How taking the taxes out of congress's hand 100%. Give the people the authority to set a tax system and the government could deal with it!!!

I doubt the flat tax will ever happen but it sure would be great if we stopped using the tax system for vote pandering, welfare/wealth redistribution and everyone paid something. Even if it's only a few percent it beats people getting back thousands more than was paid in.

Repeal the Federal Reserve Act, repeal the 16th amendment, live in peace and prosperity. Do your research learn the history.

That doesn't mean the top 1% pays taxes at a 39.5% tax rate....that means they pay 39.5% of the total taxes. Which means nothing.

A flat tax would mean everyone pays the same amount of their earnings to taxes...doesn't that seem fair and logical?

So while they are learning they can just do without, and make them a Bernie supporter.

That's why a federal sales tax makes more sense. Someone making $24k a year spends less than someone making $140k a year. Do away with income tax and move to a consumption tax, even people paid under the table will contribute.

So you’re in favor of a progressive and unfair tax system, like we have now. That’s ok, but it’s not fair. Fairness is everyone pays the same rate. That’s the fairest way to do it.

It’s about principle to me. Out of principle, everyone pays 10% of whatever they make. You do well, you take home 90% of your income. You don’t do well, you take home 90% of your income. Fair.

If you don’t do well, and take home 120% of your income, but another family does a little better, but takes home 68% of their income, that’s not fair.

Fair Tax is a national sales tax and I really liked the idea after I read the book. It’s worth a read and I’m sure you can find it on amazon still. Very interring proposal.

I’m in on a 10-15% flat tax. But it has to be everybody, no deductions. EVERYONE

Curious, do most support a flat tax because they feel the lower income is not paying their fair share or higher income is paying too much?

I think I’m paying too much when I see others with a similar income cheat the system and pay less than half what I do. I have a coworker who makes a good living, but him and his wife claims she lives somewhere else and claims their child. She gets a small fortune from the IRS (me&you) and free schooling for her and the kid on grants. Meanwhile, he made almost 100K last year, and she’s an LVN going to RN school.

Both, honestly. It would be a huge band-aid to rip off because it would cost 90% of the IRS workers their jobs, and untold accountants/tax advisors/etc. theirs as well. There is a ton of the economy wrapped up in tax services in some form or fashion. But in the long run it makes a ton of sense. Which is precisely why it won't happen-too much upheaval, poors actually having to pay, no way to weaponize it going forward for political gain.

Is you people's idea or a flat income tax in addition to Social Security?

Even if so or if not, don't think it will work. Progressive taxes keep the elites in power. They have to make sure the have nots get or keep just enough to keep them from rioting, taking control and upsetting the "system"..
