Absolutely HATE my Nitto Ridge Grapplers, they are down right scary on wet roads, whistle when above 75mph. That’s on a Ram 2500

I have Cooper STT Pros on my f250 and excursion. Really like them.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I've got over 60k on my Nitto Terra Grappler G2s. Best wearing tire I've ever had. My truck is a gas motor, though, much lighter than a diesel. They're not a mud tire, but they've gotten me out of East Texas black gumbo and West Texas bat snot. I'll be buying another set in the next few weeks.

90% highway 10% offroad
Does that mean its my commuter that I drive to the deer lease? If so I would stick with the lesser aggressive better hwy mannered tires. Probably cost less, wear longer and be quieter plus do just about whatever you need. But im cheap practical and no fun so im sure this will be laughed out.

Probably cost less, wear longer and be quieter plus do just about whatever you need. But im cheap practical and no fun so im sure this will be laughed out. I am in the same boat (90%/10%) but that 10% is critical so I opt for a bit more aggressive tire. 2500 Dodge Cummins quad cab long bed 4x4. I have tried the Toyo RT, Nitto Trail Grappler M/T, BFG Rugged Trail T/A and now have the Goodyear Duratrac. The truck came with the BFG Rugged Trail and I only drove a few thousand miles before I swapped. These are the slickest tires I have ever own on any truck, wet pavement they are extremely dangerous. I got stuck on wet grass on level ground to the point I had to go into 4 wheel drive to move, no joke. I could break the tires loose on dry pavement up to 30 mph and not even be hammering on it. I would NOT recommend these to anyone. I went to the Nitto M/T and they performed well for traction, pavement and mud. They were a bit noisy to start and progressively got louder as they wore. I was rotating about 7-8k miles but by the time I got to 25k miles, they wouldn't pass inspection. I then went to the Toyo RT and they performed well for traction, pavement and mud (not black mud, they don't self clean). They were much quieter than the Nittos. I was rotating 7-8k miles and they were wearing very good until about 30k miles when I had a tread separation on both front and rear on the right side of the truck after hitting a pot hole in a county road. They were partial warranty replacement due to wear, so I opted to put 4 new tires on. Upon putting on 4 new tires, I went to the Goodyear Duratrac since that was what I wanted in the first place, but they weren't offered in the 1 oversize in a load range E. Since the E were available, I went to those. I am now at about 32k miles and they still have good tread, good overall traction including black mud to some degree, just now starting to hear them a little bit at higher speeds on the highway but less than any of the above at any point from new to replacement. I have been very pleased.

Dad has the stock transforce I think is what they are called on his 18 cummins. In no way is it an off road tire. They have done him fine for anything he's got business driving around a a 1-ton diesel truck in, namely we have a lot of loose sand.
I bought a set of Cooper A/T's, they are E range but I have them on a 1/2 ton. Walmart had a sale on them that was too good to pass up. Sale shop, I always find a serviceable tire for much less than anyone pays for BFG's etc. I paid $136 a tire for E range stock size on the coopers installed.

The BFG KO2 did better in the rain than my current Nitto Ridge Grapplers, these things will slide easily. I don’t care if they spin when taking off from a start, I can control that, it’s the abrupt sliding on a highway at 50mph that gets the picker factor up. I attribute this to the larger lugs vs the KO2. I will say, they ride much better on the road than the KO2

The THF has THE BEST BUTT DYNOS I have ever seen. Im sure these tires manufacturers have all the testing and documents to prove our biased opinons to be a bunch of BS.
If one tire was in FACT so inferior or superior everyone would use the same one and the others would go out of business. Its nothing more than dodge/ford/chevy debate with a different product.

I put 72,000 miles on a set of those exact same tires off a 2015 ram. Many people on the RAM forums had bad luck with them. I used mine like I would any other tire, towed boat flatbed and TT fine hauled 2000 lbs of feed in the bed they did fine. I flattened 1 on a big chunk of metal on I-37 (replaced it with my spare) and got a screw in one that I plugged. They were quiet smooth even wearing tires for me.

Luckly I was on HWY 57 going 75 and there was no one beside me or coming in my direction when it blew. I will never own a Goodyear tire again.

Funny, I have the same opinion of Goodyear and posted about my preference for Bridgestone. Others jumped on me saying they had bad luck with Bridgestone, and much preferred Goodyear. To each his own, and I am sure driving styles make an impact, but I've never had GYs that lasted more than 35k and still been worth anything. On Bridgestones, I have run into the 60s with no issues.

I had Toyo Open Country A/T's on my 06 Megacab dually, they were great tires on/off road. Have been running Cooper STT and STT Pro M/T tires on my 12 Power Wagon, the STT's were 35" and the STT Pro's are 37". I got 45k miles out of the STT's,the new style Pro's are a softer compound so I might get 40K out of them. The Cooper's are pretty good tires.

Absolutely HATE my Nitto Ridge Grapplers, they are down right scary on wet roads, whistle when above 75mph. That’s on a Ram 2500 I'll never buy another Nitto. Not for the same reasons you list, but I had several fail on my 3500SRW after about 25-30k miles. The guy at the tire shop told me the tires kept failing because I was running 80lbs in the rear tires and towing a heavy trailer Said it was too much pressure!

I haven't had them but for about 4k miles, but I'm really liking the cooper st maxx on a 1 ton ford. Switched over from toyo mt's because I don't need a full on mud tire. I was going with the toyo rt or at2 but decided on these because they come in a 12 ply. I've had them on some pretty gnarly county roads and they are a happy medium between highway tires and a real mud terrain.
