Just my .02, LeonCarr Just to be clear this is not about me, it’s a question about a person that has been showing up at a few gatherings of friends. I guess the question should be if the person were to be run through the system, would the felony conviction show on the return? It’ll still show on a background check, assuming they haven’t had the record sealed. Even if it is sealed it’ll still show on any federal check or pd check, just not employer or internet search type scenarios This. I nun NCIC checks on a daily basis. It'll be on there.

This. I nun NCIC checks on a daily basis. It'll be on there. I thought NICS for 4473 only gave you three responses and not data used in the check.

The rest of the story is that the individual has expressed interest in going with some of the group on different hunts and some were concerned about what would transpire upon confrontation with LE, BP or Game Warden. (including myself). That whole felon in possession of a firearm thing. And no, I’m not calling an attorney about this. If he completed his deferred adjudication then there was no conviction and he is not a felon. Even if stopped by a GW or LEO and one of your group turned out to be a felon or have a warrant, it would be on that person, not you. Are you going to run background checks on everyone in the group to make sure they don't have any past felonies or warrants? Sounds like this guy is being upfront about his past. No conviction means he is not a felon.

Just cuz somebody you are hunting with is a knucklehead doesn't put you in harm's way. If he shoots over his limit, you don't get the ticket, either. On the other hand, maybe you just want to keep a low profile and/or favorable impression with the local law enforcement, which I would completely understand.
