Seems like there hasn't been a lot of talk about the teal hunting this year and given how the season has gone so far I can understand why. Hunted opening day on the coast and got a limit, but had to walk a couple hundred yards across cracked dirt that would normally be shallow water. Hunted what could have equated to a large puddle. Then comes the deluge of Imelda. This past Saturday I hunted a more tidal area and did not shoot the gun. Higher than normal tides and heavy rains now have water 16-18 inches higher than normal. Yesterday morning I found some shallow freshwater in an area that would normally have none and managed another limit. Definitely a tough season so far but it could be worse, there could be NO ducks. Hoping for a strong ending this weekend. Get out and get after 'em, they are out there if you look. Pic is from yesterday's hunt.
Guess we were luck in Eagle Lake.....had limits all 3 weekends of season.....it was slower than years past but this past weekend it picked up.....we had limits by 7:30.......definitely a slower year over all.....come on big duck season.
