Tuna casserole Beef stroganoff Chicken tetrazzini That's funny. My Mom made all of these and they were awesome. Chicken tetrazini especially. Now I'm hungry. As a kid I hated them all. Now I devour them. Some of you guys were kept on the bottle or the breast too long. I recently started a thread about a woman breast feeding a four year old in public.

It wasn’t in my childhood, so I didn’t mention it earlier, but it was in our early married years. Two kids and just getting by. The wife cooked a lot of what I called Hamburger Horror (hamburger helper). And Sloppy Joe sandwiches. We were so poor. Hurts me to think about it. But ya got to stretch the dollars.

Dad made fun of mom's biscuits shortly after they were married, so canned biscuits it was from then on. Something about boiled canned biscuits and boiled chicken. Everything else mom cooked was great.

I love salmon patties and fish sticks. I haven’t tried beef liver in 30 years. I might like it now. I still hate green peas, both my sons love them. Other than Beef liver I can’t think of anything mom cooked that I didn’t like. We ate fried deer meat at least 3 nights a week. She could have a chitload of fried meat, gravy and rice on the table in no time. During season fried quail hit the plate at least twice a week.

My mother was of German ancestry she grew up with that influence on her cooking along with a lot of Czech influence, then add in the Tex Mex cooking in the area. . Then after my father died, she remarried into the military There were a lot of War Brides, that came from all over Europe that influenced her cooking along with the countries we lived in. Sauerkraut? My mother made the real thing, and it wasn't served with hotdogs, she would make fresh German sausage to go with it. :Living overseas for 6 years, Tex Mex was homemade, including the corn and flour tortillas. The exception was tamales, she hated making them, but luckily there was a lady that made them for her. My stepfather was a Senior NCO, he saw food like at the mess hall, and you cleaned your plate, did not matter of you liked it or not.

About the only thing I refuse to eat is beets. My mom forced me to eat them at her aunt's thanksgiving dinner once and i puked right on the table. That was the last time she ever made any of us eat anything

We had to clean our plates, no if’s,ands, or buts. I learned to use lots of butter and salt. But even that couldn’t make boiled spinach taste or beets palatable. I’d just choke em down.

My mom made those salmon crokets as well. Nasty hockey puck looking things. I would dunk them in ketchup to get them down. Never again

Every vegetable we ate came out of the garden or had been canned from the garden. I hate raw cucumbers. She would make some kind of salad with vinegar, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. Not for me to this day. She was a great cook otherwise. Best tapioca pudding and cream puff maker ever.

Cheap lunch meat on stale white bread.
Pressed ham or pickle loaf.

Man, some of my favorite foods in this thread.
There is t much I won't eat.
The one thing I just can't choke down is spam. It's pure mental, just can't do it.
I like fish sticks, meat loaf, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, cooked cabbage..
One thing I hated as a kid but would eat now is cooked spinach.

I'd rather lick a skunk's butt before I'd eat meatloaf again.
