Just let them beat the heck out of each other and get it over with.

In the good old days the troublemakers were kicked out of school for a few weeks and eventually became dropouts, Today, the "SYSTEM" wants a 100% graduation rates, the SYSTEM mainstream kids into the regular curriculum to keep those NUMBERS HIGH.
It is all about the NUMBERS while the PTB keep preaching it is all about the kids.

Aren’t districts paid by the state for the total kids attending? If so, that explains why districts no longer suspend problem students. As someone who was in education for 31 years I know a bit about education. Education went the way of government. Most people don’t really want to be bothered with the details. Elect officials and let them decide how the government operates while I focus on ME. We see how that has worked out. Same with education. Send kids off to school and let them handle the details. Combine that with the participation award mentality and parents not parenting, we now we see what that got us. So now we complain. That with education changing its focus from actually educating kids to building and building. Focusing on extra curricular. You would be amazed how much is spent on EC. The return on investment is a laugh.
So now we have a government that cannot govern. We have an education system that is not educating.
This is the extremely short version of what went wrong. But believe me education is way off the rails today. As is our government.

My wife taught there in the early 90's, went up to see her one day and walked past a group up students that said "whazup m.....f....er". I mentioned to the principal in passing and she just said they were saying "Hi".
I got her out of there the next year. Desoto used to be a nice town.

When I was in middle school in Odessa, we had two Mexican gangs. The only people that could regulate them were the football players. I was in at least a 100 fights before my sophomore year. The blacks on the team fought right along with the whites because there weren’t that many of them. Almost all of the blacks were solid guys.
Mexicans mature faster than white people and are big from 7th to 9th grade compared to most whites. They’re all pretty bad dudes until 10th grade. Then it’s pretty much over for them unless they pull a knife. Our principal was an ex pro football player back when they played both ways. He mule deer hunted with us and got me out of class early several times to go hunting when my dad had to work on a Friday. Any time we fought one of the gangs he’d ask me what happened and I’d say these Mexicans jumped us. He’d say y’all go back to class and escort the gangsters out of school. They don’t have men running schools like that anymore.

I got her out of there the next year. Desoto used to be a nice town. My brother found the guy that used to own "Dry gulch motors", at 35 and Parkerville, laying in the street next to the high school, riddled with bullet holes. This was early 80s. Desoto is a chithole.

It is indeed. Final straw was Desoto PD and principal asking my wife to get a student out of her classroom because they suspected he had a gun in his bag. Sure enough he did. Oddly, Desoto at one time was the highest income per capita city in the metromess.

The dealers, the thugs, and other low lifes prefer the nicer neighborhoods. If you were part of the criminal element and could afford to raise your children on a nicer environment, you would do the same.

I believe the faculty and staff should be armed with pepper spray. When a fight breaks out, hose everyone in the area. Soon the spectators will run away before they get sprayed. No audience, no reason to fight. Also, faculty and staff will not get hurt like they often do when breaking up a fight.
There's only 2 seasons in a year. Deer season and getting ready for deer season.

In high school if you were caught fighting on campus the football coach would drag both perps into the gym where he would make both of you put boxing gloves. You fought till one of you couldn’t stand.
Looser got a beat down. Winner would get suspended.
