Spent $150 on a Remington 700 in 30-06. It took a couple loads, but I’m pretty sure I’m done messing with it. 150 grain interlocks over 47.5 grains of 4064 yielded a .51” group.

4064 and 4198 have always been my go to powders for anything rifle.

A trigger is definitely in order. I might chop the barrel at 18” and/or put it in a good stock.

A trigger is definitely in order. I might chop the barrel at 18” and/or put it in a good stock. Since it only shoots 1/2" groups with a hunting load you need to keep messing with it.

If it is pitted from end to end it's still a bargain to shoot like that for $150. You could always have it sand blasted or something, then clean it well and paint it.
