Spent $150 on a Remington 700 in 30-06. It took a couple loads, but I’m pretty sure I’m done messing with it. 150 grain interlocks over 47.5 grains of 4064 yielded a .51” group.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

A trigger is definitely in order. I might chop the barrel at 18” and/or put it in a good stock.

Since it only shoots 1/2" groups with a hunting load you need to keep messing with it. up

It was at a Cash America pawn shop. It isn’t pretty.

I think you picked a winner! I’d sell it on THF for $600 and buy a nice Pointer pup.

If it is pitted from end to end it's still a bargain to shoot like that for $150. You could always have it sand blasted or something, then clean it well and paint it.
