The branch structure, leaf & fruit looks like an Apricot to me. I am going to go with this because of the fruit shape, color and leaf edge.

They're NOT persimmons. Generally there are 2 varieties; a hard and soft. Both have "leaves on top" similar to strawberry.
This is definitely in the same botanical family as peaches, plum, apricots and loquat fruit.

It is at a old house on a place that my son has leased to run some cattle. It had fruit a few years ago but I have never seen it like this.
