hello Everyone, i pray each of you is doing good just finished a knife made from a farriers rasp and thought i'd share here are the specs Chalmette (my name for this design) forest green camo g10 copper pins and tube made from an old farriers rasp satin finish file marks left on the spine gator skin texture worked into the scales 8 3/4 inches overall length 4 1/8 inches cutting edge 3/16 inches thick at the spine i haven't put my makers marks on the blade yet, that is the last thing i do before i ship a knife thank you very much for your time and feedback

I'm a sucker for a rasp or file blade. Looks great thank you very much, the rasps eat grinding belt like they are going out of style,, but love the look also

Looks great thank you very much, the rasps eat grinding belt like they are going out of style,, but love the look also Do you anneal the rasp before grinding or grind them as they are and then temper them back? i used to anneal them, work them and reheat treat,,, did some testing comparing my results compared with simply drawing a temper ,, and i did not find enough significant difference in edge retention to warrant the full spa treatment which resulted in a few warped blades on occasion. i have my favorite brands that i usually work with and have made a few hundred with the rasps,, i love the finished product but like i said,, either annealed or drawn temper, either way eats grinding belts. of course with the drawn temper route i have to use specialized bits,, but like most things knife,, there is no perfect this or that,, it's all a compromise between things.
