hello Everyone, i pray each of you is doing good
just finished a knife made from a farriers rasp and thought i'd share
here are the specs

Chalmette (my name for this design)
forest green camo g10
copper pins and tube
made from an old farriers rasp
satin finish
file marks left on the spine
gator skin texture worked into the scales
8 3/4 inches overall length
4 1/8 inches cutting edge
3/16 inches thick at the spine

i haven't put my makers marks on the blade yet, that is the last thing i do before i ship a knife

thank you very much for your time and feedback

Nicely executed! Have you put a price on it? Will you build a sheath for it?

Do you anneal the rasp before grinding or grind them as they are and then temper them back?

i used to anneal them, work them and reheat treat,,, did some testing comparing my results compared with simply drawing a temper
,, and i did not find enough significant difference in edge retention to warrant the full spa treatment which resulted in a few warped blades
on occasion. i have my favorite brands that i usually work with and have made a few hundred with the rasps,, i love the finished product
but like i said,, either annealed or drawn temper, either way eats grinding belts. of course with the drawn temper route i have to use
specialized bits,, but like most things knife,, there is no perfect this or that,, it's all a compromise between things.
