Sad. They will shoot until nothing is left. Now multiply that about 10 times per county, & that is the future of Texas deer hunting. And people cry about ARs!

If you really expect this to continue and there is no other option and you can't HF, why not lease yours out for less and in a couple of years take your profits to help buy your neighbors place or use the profits to HF your place? Not the best solution but it helps you in the long run.

If you really want to make them mad, drop off your freshly cleaned carcasses as close to their deer blinds on your side of the fence.

It's hard to get away from this type of scenario, whether it's outfitters or just other hunters, who don't share your management goals. Went through the same thing over the past couple years. Our place joined a small place on 2 sides and we supplied deer for the guys friends, family, clients and whoever they brought. They killed young bucks no matter what they were. It got old seeing 2.5 yo bucks hanging up every weekend. We bought the place, problem solved! I know that's not always realistic, but it sure is nice.

As long as they are legal, you are wasting your time complaining.

What he said!
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Wow!! That's bad. There are lots of good outfitters that won't do this...and lots of outfitters that put up with the same nonsense from neighbors and river hunters alike. Sure there are guys that have too many deer and can let them go cheap, but wonder how many are doing the same as this guy.

I had the same problem a few years ago with an outfitter on an adjacent fence line. I tried to be the better person and work things out and he told me to mind my own business. I invited every friend I had in the world to come out and we legally wiped out the deer population in about two weeks. His customers saw virtually nothing for the rest of the season and his business was ruined. He left and I won. It took a few years to get the deer back and then a couple of more to improve things through proper management. Everyone for miles around knows what occurred and seems quite friendly and less money motivated.

Texas needs to go landowner permits rather then just county limits. Too many landowners and their lessors are putting too much pressure on the herd by putting too many hunters per acre. Now I understand that increasing an ROI is the landowners perogative but at some point the state has to help one landowner protect themselves from an adjacent landowners who are content raping a local deer population for profit and their own benefit. As you see tracts of land get more broken up this will continue to become a greater issue in Texas.

In certain areas if you owned 25 acres you would get no permit. I probably told this before but quite a few years ago there was one of our neighbors. He had 3 sons. They would shoot every buck they saw but no does. Then as their does came into heat bucks from near and far would come to their property to breed the does and they would shoot those. And don't say they could only shoot as many as they had tags for. The deer never left the ranch so never got tagged. This is a true story.

It does nothing to help your current situation, but I'd be in favor of legislation that tied deer tags to individual property. I guess that's a terrible idea, too now that I think it through.

I detest the idea. But that's whats gonna have to happen. There is no way (in some areas of the state) we can sustain everybody shooting all the deer they want.

A few years ago, I was attempting to gather peas in a patch owned by in-laws. Deer had eaten most. A neighbor came by and offered me access to his pea patch. He said there were plenty. There were. I began to notice moth balls scattered about. Deer seem to hate them and avoid areas where they are, even lush pea patches. Take a sling shot and "treat" the feeders they have along the fence line. ???
