That isn't airsoft. It IS probably 25 lbs. of rifle, though (with the drum mag full of 308). I can't see ever leaving the house with it set up like picture #3 (maybe without the flare launcher/ bayonet, though). On second thought, you know...I bet recoil would be downright polite. Maybe I will try it once.

After two hours with the battery cap orientation flipped 180 degrees, the batteries are still fully charged. So here's a review: Problem to be fixed: Rapid Battery Drain Even With Scope in Static Condition Running .228 firmware GPS and WiFi off No still or video images taken Compass, Clock and Speedometer set for a couple of hours at "TOP," then at "BOTTOM," then at "NONE" Battery cap rotated to put different parts of the conductive plate in the cap in different orientations for a couple of hours Observations: None of these tests showed any indication of any change in the rate at which the batteries lost their charges
I'm out of ideas, AND, the scope's batteries appear to be holding their charge, even over night, when before I began the testing, they wouldn't last 4 hours!

Maybe there was something "gapping" in your battery cover that, through the removal/ replacement cycles you've been through, has solved itself?

Holy #$%^, that is indeed a bad a$$ looking rifle s6275. Thanks! We're buried in snow here, and I wouldn't be going out much anyway, but while I am waiting on weather and my self-imposed 30-day standby battery test, I really hope they get the X-Sight working as advertised. The Accupoint has been VERY accurate, but it is 1-4x, and a 3-12 scope will "pick up where that leaves off"...I hope.

s6275, it may very well be that the repetitive removal and replacement of the battery cover did "something." I even emptied the battery compartment and looked inside to see if there were pieces of debris/flashing that might have been shifting around and causing issues. I found nothing. The problem is, I don't know what that "something" might have been! As I said in a previous post, I don't have any experience with electrical and mechanical things fixing themselves. It just doesn't happen. And it makes me a bit anxious about taking the scope hunting unless I bring my battery checker and at least 2 extra sets of batteries. It's not exactly the kind of reliability performance I was looking for when I purchased this scope. Some of the other issues are certainly annoying but there are workarounds for most of them, and the scope is still functional. Random power failures are harder to deal with, especially when you're sitting in a hog blind waiting for a sounder of piggies to make their appearance. If anyone figures out what caused these failures, please let us all know!

Hmm. There is a single conductor in the cap, not two. In the config shown in the manual, the positive ends of two batteries touch this conductor, and the negative ends of the other two batteries also touch this same conductor.
I can't see how that can make the batteries run in series or parallel. To produce 3v with four batteries, shouldn't there be two conductors? Two batts in parallel and the two parallels in series? I`m thinking the two top and two bottom run in parallel and the bottom section of the "U" in the cap put those 2 banks in series. Whats interesting is that I put 4 of the good Duracel rechargeable batteries (new) in the scope and the low battery icon was on right away. But when experimenting with how the battery setup is laid out (series/parrallel), I was using cheap alkaline batteries and only used 2 batteries and no low battery icon! Yes the scope will run on only 2 batteries, the top and bottom slots together on either the left or right side. It is possible that the rechargeable batteries were not fully charged, but the package says they come charged and ready to go.

Interesting, Spymoto. My scope will NOT run if two of the batteries are dead. That's what started me down the path of trying to figure out why the batteries were discharging so rapidly. And, with my scope, it always the two batteries that have the negative end sticking out, to the right, from the compartment. And I'm using the Energizer Lithiums.

Could the batteries just have been defective. Im using the engerizer ultimate lithiums and still running the ones I first put in the scope.

MGP, I used different batteries from different bubble paks to try to see if I'd just gotten a bad or weak run of batteries. Did not seem to be the case. I'm becoming more and more convinced that my particular scope has a rather unique problem, since very few folks have experienced the same kind of problem I'm having (or, was having!).

Just confirming here from this last post, your battery layout is (-) across the top and (+) across the bottom correct? I Ask because you said the (-) pair are on the right, which is different than mine. The + and - are a group on each side, if one of those pairs are dead it won't work. Also, it won't power up if you have have one of each +/-, on either side. They pair together left stack or right stack only with 2 batteries.

Spymoto, with the scope laying on its side, with the objective lens facing to my left, when I open the battery hatch, I see 2 batteries with their positive terminals facing up, and they are on top of 2 batteries that have their negative terminals facing up. The problems I have had are with the two batteries with their negative terminals facing up and out of the battery compartment. With the scope standing up in its normal, mounted position, there are two batteries with their positive terminals facing out, to my right, and they are on top in the battery compartment; and two with their negative terminals facing out, to my right, beneath the other two. Again, it's those two, with the outward facing negative terminals, that have discharged prematurely. What I can't figure out is, if they're a "matched set," why is it that the two with the negative ends sticking out become totally discharged while the "upper two" with the positive terminals facing out maintain a full and complete charge!

Took my scope out for a test run this weekend. Took the -10 degree temp in stride, without any real issues except the expected battery drain from the extreme cold. I did notice that as time went on, the shoot able distance went from an easy 200 yards, to 100 yards after a few hours running time.No amount of extra IR power brightened it up. I forgot to bring the .200 firmware card, so I couldn't upload it to see if it would solve the problem. I had no problems in day mode, except for the disappearing reticle issue when going past 3.5x zoom. My .20 practical is traveling at 4,100 fps, so I thought I might not have that issue with such a flat shooting round that didn't need a lot of adjustment from the 0-0 center. It hit where I was aiming, even with the reticle way off center. I primarily kept it at 1x the whole time and had no problem hitting my 100 yard target. No shots at anything but paper, but I don't see why it wouldn't have hit anything I aimed it at in the field. I'm going to load the .200 version and see if it gets a brighter picture at night for next weekends hunt. That's if it doesn't snow another 2 feet and that anything but an idiot testing his scope will be stupid enough to be out in sub zero temps.

Well, folks, the scope stayed "on" in the static condition all night, with only the GPS and WiFi features turned off, and the batteries check out fine this morning! I'm totally mystified. Don't what was causing the issue, and will still make sure I have plenty of batteries on hand when I go afield with the scope. I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions you all have provided over the last few days. If the problem rears its ugly head again, I'll let everyone know.

Batteries lasting 4 hours, that's fine with me, if they last longer, then that's a bonus, I wouldn't have any complaints even at 4 hours, my thermal scope lasts 2.5 hours or less with 2 CR123's

LOL, the thread is about firmware updates and problems, a followup to the last firmware update thread that like this one, had hundreds of posts on scope issues and people trying to resolve them.

Woo hoo! I just received an email notification of a firmware update... ...for .228. At least they included a rudimentary "changelog," right? Most places I have seen list additions, bugs addressed, and remaining bugs. It would be nice to see something closer than that.

One thing to bear in mind, is that lithiums tend to discharge with very little drop in voltage until they are just about done, then they fall off very fast. So a direct measurement gets a little tough.
Everywhere I go, there I am.
