Another update.
We are almost caught up on the 5-18x.
As for the 3-12, around few thousand new scopes are being shipped middle of next week. These new scopes would have the latest firmware with manual focus and sun shade.
As for the firmware, are also planning on releasing another firmware update early next week.
Thank you! When you say "shipped," do you mean from China to ATN, or from ATN to distributors? \\ when i called them earlier this week they lead me to believe it was from china and that they would not be available until beginning of next month

No it won't even sit in the port I had to hold the card down with my finger to update firmware. Bonzman, I am having our product manager look into it. Will give you an update. tried a few things similar to that still no luck.

All, If you are having issues with the SD card slots, please let us know so we can do a RMA and record it in our metrics so we can further improve this scope.

Chris we are seeing roughly around 8 to 12 hours of battery life with brand new lithium batteries with wifi, gps and recording off.
We are planning on adding some quick ultra saving mode and rechargeable battery pack.

anyway we can get longer battery life? its driving my wallet crazy. I heard there is a company working on an external rechargeable battery pack. Hopefully they can figure that out pretty soon. That's what I'm looking forward to save on battery cost! I've swithced my butt stock to one that holds a full set of batteries for both the scope and IR incase mine die in the field.

Now a lot depends on if you are constantly navigating the menu or changing the settings or moving the scope around.

I haven't found a way of getting the SD card by hand alone, as Sachal says, you do need to push it in with a pen, or other small object til it clicks into place.

There are a couple of guys over on the ATN Customer Forum on facebook who have successfully run their X-Sights on external battery packs via the micro USB port. They said you have to have batteries in before you connect the battery pack but once connected, the batteries can be removed and it still runs. Clearly they've added a disclaimer that they don't know what, if any damage would be caused to the device by doing this...
(From facebook forum: " FIX FOR BATTERY LIFE/EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE: Just did some screwing around with my xsight and I can CONFIRM external power packs work. The safety of this IS UNKNOWN. As you all should know, using a piece of advanced hardware and software outside of producers specs could lead to unknown issues/failures. Disclaimer done... If you power unit up with AA batteries installed, THEN attach an external power source (mine is a 10,000 MAH ANKER astro 2nd gen), and THEN remove your batteries, device stays powered on. Video continued to record as well. So there you go boys, problem: solved (for the time being)."

One of the things I've noticed is that after my batteries fail to run my 5-18X, I can still use those batteries for other, less demanding tasks, like flashlights, radios, and other AA battery-powered devices. I checked the "used" batteries from the X sight with an analog battery tester, and it indicated that I still had plenty of life left in them. So don't throw those batteries away; repurpose them!

We are planning on adding some quick ultra saving mode and rechargeable battery pack. Sachal, Do you think that ATN will offer those of us that already bought the 5X a discount on the sun shade and battery pack that are in the works. Or are these items always going to be a option even for future purchasers. Just curious. I like the idea of the power saving mode that is awesome. Also, one more quick question. Do you know all the bug fixes that the next firmware will fix and or adjust? I am sure I am not the only one wondering. Thanks again for keeping us all up to date as you do.

Maybe it'll run the cooling fan at a slower speed. My 5x blows into my eye so hard that it dries it out. I kid. The ATN X-Sight 5X18 does NOT have a cooling fan. Well, at least my green button version does not. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Weather permitting, I'm going to finally sight mine in today and am anxious to see how it goes. I've only played with it a bit here and there, and the issues I've noted are the flashing/blinking display in night mode, and occasionally unresponsive buttons during certain menu selections. These seem to be software issues and hopefully easy to address through firmware updates. Regardless, I'm still quite impressed with the features included and image quality I've seen. I quite happy with it.

When yo go to the firmware page and click the link are you also clicking the "save" button or "open" button? You shouldnt need a media player or codec to use this. Simply download (save) to your computer then copy it to your (formatted) sd card. Insert it into the scope and turn on. It should then start loading it to the scope. If it hangs up on you after about 5 or so minutes and you have no control over the scope then you will need to take the battery cover off and remove the sd card. Replace the cover and power back up it should start the update. I had to do the same and the above is what ATN told me to do and all is well as to the firmware upgrade. [/quote]
Hey Shadow, I stupidly forgot to format my SD card..... Which I assume is why I'm having problems..... I did play with my x-sight last night..... (Joys of being a cop on night shift! !) And I have to say.... It is pretty cool..... I have used a Gen. III Simrad scope for many years.... And while the image is "different" I am amazed at the clarity of the X-Sight!
Thanks! Fred

Fred , Im glad you got it going. Sometimes its the little things. I would suggest an upgraded illuminator for it as well, you will be amazed at the difference. Glad the board has been able to help you. Thanks for your seevice in the PD. Phil

Hmmmmmm..... I went out and bought a card reader/writer..... Was able to figure out how to format the card, Download the firmware update, (.200), upload to the SD card, placed it in the scope (it is clicked in) and......
NOTHING!!!!
Still showing version .174 in settings..... I double checked and "xsight(1).bin" is in the SD card...... I tried placing the card "in" with the unit off, and powering it up, and even tried a hard reboot by unscrewing the battery cap......
I am sure it is in the card, but does not seem to be reading it......
Any bright ideas?
Thanks for your help..... I am sure the issue is "the nut behind the trigger"! F.

You do not want the (1) in the filename. That file needs to be called nothing other than xsight.bin. I would suggest deleting ALL copies of the .bin firmware from your computer. The added (1) is actually added to the second copy you have in the same folder...so you are going to delete all of those, then redownload a fresh one, making sure it is only named xsight.bin.
