Fine by me. Id rather have a mediocre opener followed by weeks of consistent hunting as new birds arrive then have them build up before opener and get run out of town on the first day. Same here. I don't relish the thought of wearing waders in 80 degree heat either.

I don't relish the thought of wearing waders in 80 degree heat either. They're almost unnecessary when it's that warm. What worries me is that it's still snake season when the temps are that high. Creepy gettin in the blind.

ibis, still big balls of bwt, few greys and wigeon on Spider Lady Lake outside Lampasas. I just named a lake. haha. If anyone can find out why this private body of water is so named, then come join us for a hunt on it. It's around 75 acres. It shows up on some maps online with this name.

Named after old lady White that died of spider bites and was buried in nearby cemetery. Every Halloween she comes back, covered in spiders.

I've seen a few a good many flying around local lakes. Got the HVAC company coming out to the house first thing Friday and then I'm dedicating the rest of the day to scouting. I've got a good idea where they're at.

Had over 500 birds on a private lake north west of Brady! About half were coots though but was super surprised when we pulled up to see so many. I've got a video on my iPhone but don't know how to post it.

I saw a heard of green heads on lake X and Y. Lake B was full of left over blue wing but nothing was as duckalicious as honey hole G.
Apart from that my place off lake Palestine had a few woodies. Expect a couple of green heads over the next few days. Flat creek on Palestine didn't have much last week while fishing but saw a nice dark cloud in the back of Kickapoo get pushed up by 4 diff people scouting.

No point in anyone hunting the opener. Shot enough game to this point. It's about the process and experience. Last year we scouted and saw mixed bag of 30-35 ducks- on big lake. We ended up taking 15 3 guns. I never miss any opener.

From minnesota/dakota sources.
Mild coldfront up north on thursday. That will bring teal down for sure, just in time. Next big coldfront november 15, 20 and the BIG one november 25th.
Enjoy

Scouted this morning. These are the best pics I could get with my phone through my binoculars. About 1/3 coots, 1/3 spoonies and the last 1/3 teal, pintail and gadwall.
