Checked out my lease this morning (the grey duck honey hole), south of the metromess, no ducks. That tells me the grey ducks are no where in my area, but I'm fully expecting them to get here before the opener. I do have my fingers crossed tho..

There are no ducks, just go deer hunting.

I'm in NM right now. The cranes are here. A few pintails and grey ducks but nothing to write home about.

No point in anyone hunting the opener.

They will show up this week. I'm surprised you are not seeing any ducks, you got water on your place?

Spent the day in El Campo brushing blinds. One pond is holding ~200 teal. Other than that, we didn't see anything. The other people I have talked to in the Garwood/ El Campo area have had the same reports. Some teal, no big ducks.
I don't foresee much changing between now and the opener. Even the states way up north are still waiting for ducks. It will be an interesting season… Anyone have a better report?

I saw a few teal and widgeons. More coots than anything else. Our lease is 2 miles south of the Red River, north of Bonham.

No point in anyone hunting the opener. That's what I was thinking, maybe the second split will be better...

2 hunts for youth season and 2 limits of woodies. Thats it. Not another duck in sight.

Tons of BWT, some local greenheads, and a few groups of gaddies and wigeon for my son and his buddy this weekend in North TX.

Two weeks ago we were getting excited because we had a couple hundred on one our spots. Scouted it one week ago and had 40. This place is south of Abilene so it was unusual having that many ducks two weeks ago when you guys several hours north aren't seeing much.
We hunted another spot farther north that is in the HPMMU and had one group of big ducks buzz us and land before shooting light but took off and saw one group of teal that didn't come in.

I think we can all agree that yeah there are a few birds down, mostly bwt, but not near what we are all used to seeing this time of year. It'll happen when it happens and not a second sooner

Fine by me. Id rather have a mediocre opener followed by weeks of consistent hunting as new birds arrive then have them build up before opener and get run out of town on the first day.

There's about 20 gadwall on a no-hunt pond on the fort. They've been there for almost a month. No new birds have come through yet, at least they aren't there when I check.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

No ducks here, but then again you need water for ducks.

Have a few teal and resident geese around the property we hunt. Going out later this week to see if this little front this week is going to help out the opener any
