Nice pic. I don't shoot foxes unless they look sick or acting strange. Don't shoot many bobcats either. Like to look at them even though the deer hate them and get spooked quickly. I can't shoot Bobcats either; they don't bother nothing. I will smoke a yoke into kingdom come. Same here....bobcats and fox get a pass...yotes and hogs SOS!

Last time I was that close to a fox (in the video) I still have the scar on my finger to prove it - I was a kid and he was not a cute puppy

You would be amazed at the wildlife populations and quality that can be obtained when proper management practices are combined with predator control. You would also be amazed at how much more wildlife you would be able to sit back on your porch and enjoy watching. As bar-d mentioned, even the little cute fox can reek havoc on bird, turkey and yes even deer populations during fawning season. Bobcats are no better. In some cases even worse, as an adult male can take down larger deer. Case in point. Back in the eighties here on our ranch quail, turkey, rabbits, deer and so forth were thriving and had healthy populations. Toward the late nineties, my uncle ran the place and slacked off on the predator control. For a long period if you were to depend on wildlife to survive you would starve before you even saw any. We took over and went all out on predator control and now have good number of quail, turkey and higher survivability rates in our fawn crops. By the way, we have a bluff here that granddaddy always called "bobcat bluff". He told the story of him and his brothers sitting across the draw in the evening and shooting several bobcats a piece on a regular basis. Guess what, we still have bobcats. IMHO, you can not be a "management minded" hunter and say you give out passes to fox and bobcats. For every fox, bobcat, and yote you see, there are probably five you don't. But everyone you take out gives the wildlife in that area a better chance of survival. In other words, I don't believe man will ever kill out all the predators but he sure can make them manageable. I've shot eight fox this week, and it's only Wednesday OP -that is a cool pic though.

I don't think I could have done it at my age either, not with pups/kits in tow.
Wrong time of year to consider the fur too.

Pups always get a pass with me, but the older ones don't stand a chance!

until we screw up and send the world back to tribal subsistence bands of humans we are manipulating our environment each and every one of us each day. living in a built home driving on roads and eating store bought food does more damage then shooting a fox. none of us have any moral hi ground on this issue. i would have passed the foxes in the photo, but will smoke one coming to a call

Haven't seen many fox around so in that environment at the lake I would sit and watch them. I have plenty of entertainment here at my house with new neighbors thinking they can let cats run free1 between live trap (they get ride to meet Wiley Coyote) and the Benjermin pellet rifle they will learn not to mark the motorcycles in garage!
Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock! 12/26/03-10/25/13

I'm sure you'll make friends soon with your new neighbors; BTW I'm coming up to Odessa this Monday. Oh did I mention the FINE you get for hunting at Possum Kingdom! I have deer and axis come by the house every evening to get a drink... now that's hard to do; especially seeing a big axis walk by me at 20 yards, knowing full I come out to he lake so I can shoot my bows long distance.

We have one hanging around our place that I put off limits too. I told the boys if they wanted him bad enough to pay for a full body mount then go ahead and shoot. So far they are satisfied with watching....

lol some of you guys! You say that you give em a pass cuz there pups but shoot em if they were older? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe these babies grow up to be the big ones that you wanna shoot so why let em live in the first place.
Deserthunting is spot on, predator control is essential to any real managed property, and that includes all predators. Possums to coyotes fellas they all cause more damage than you know. I kill predators for people so that they can get a chance to harvest more game. Not just to be an abundance of prey, If you think that you are upsetting the balance of predator to prey, then we shouldn't be shooting any prey either, feel me, we are top predator so I kill off competition to ensure a healthy population in which I can selectively harvest. If rather be the ones killin my game not the varmits.
Very cool picture though bud, I wouldn't kill anything if it wasn't for a purpose. I I'm not a ranch that wants them dead then they live. If you have no use for em dead then let em be
