Used A5 Mag in 95-98% condition with an invector barrel or Brand spankin new Wally World version of the AL390.
Good quality and don't need to be cleaned very often. You probably can't wear either one out.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I use a boat paddle, otherwise known as a Mossberg 835 Ultra Mag (Turkey Gun, pump) with the ported barrel. I have a TrueGlo adjustable choke that adds 2" to the barrel so it doesn't seem like I am shooting a sawed off shotgun. I really really like it bc it is reliable, shoots 3.5s, swings easy bc short, affordable, and hell can function as a boat paddle. Don't buy a duck gun that you are constantly worried about getting a scratch on...big mistake (for obv. reasons). I don't have to worry about wear and tear with this gun bc it isn't an expensive gun, and if it does need a little love....nothing a little REM oil can't solve.

The latter would prolly be your best option in that price range.
Most dependable auto loader out there for that money.

My son shoots the Mossberg 500 waterfowl and I shoot a 870 Express with the laminate stock and fore arm. Both of these guns are new but have been abused heavily. This season they have performed flawlessly. I'm thinking something in the auto loader line though next season just so I have more speed for all these teal. Quote:

I shoot a super nova. Never had any problems out of it. Breaks down easy as can be.
500-800 is a price range that is not enough for a high quality automatic. So if you stick with that range I would go pump. Whatever you get make sure its synthetic.
I would suggest the Nova to anyone for sure. Great dependable, easy to break down gun.

I was shooting a mossberg model 9200,its a good gun, but I just got the H & R pardner pump, say what you will, I think its going to be my workhorse. The price is right for a college student and you can't argue with the results, dead ducks.

They start at about $950 and run up to $1400 depending on options.
In your price range I would recommend a Beretta AL391 Urika2. It does not shoot 3.5" shells, but is a really good gun. It is probably the most popular semi-auto with the competitive shooting crowd.

Rem 870 Express. Used to clean it and polish it. That was my first mistake, the only time I ever had to have it looked at was after I screwed it up taking it apart. Now I rarely clean it. Bought it brand new 3 years ago. Have had 3 different buddies ask me if my grandfather gave me that gun because it looks so bad- poor synthetic wood stock abuse abuse abuse Never misfired, 'cept that one time I had a fat greenhead in my sights and BOOM...just kidding there wasn't a boom, I didn't load the dang thing.

This season I've mostly shot my Baikal. I've taken the Nova out one time and didn't really hunt, just build blinds but had it just in case.

Hard to beat a Bennelli SBE. Mine's almost flawless. Remington 1187 is good too. My Browning BPS is a good goose gun. I do have a Marlin 10 GA bolt action I'll sell you...
