Take a look at the R-25 and it's reviews. It will be the next 308 I purchase. The quality and accuracy of these guns is amazing. I have the R-15 and it shoots just as good as any gun on the market (IMHO).

Sorry, but who makes the R-25 and R-15, those are not ringing a bell with me

I sell them all, and most of the guns today will outshoot the shooter (sorry boys). That said, everyone in my family shoots Savage's...10FP's for me and the boy, 10FCM for the wife, and virtually all the LE sales are Savages right now in Bolt Actions.
The weight is not the problem with a 10 FP in a hunting environment, its the length. Dang thing snags on every branch you walk under, it's a foot above your head.
That said, when I absolutely have to hit something long ways out there, it's the one...
I know it's not a bolt action, but have to mention the Remington 750 Carbine....wow, great accuracy under 200 yards with a small footprint.... a very very good modern brush/short range/four wheeler gun. Mine has a Burris FFII 3-9, and has about 1000 miles on the front of a four wheeler(within the width of the fenders), and has taken several deer, and one Auodad at 268 yards... awesome gun.

I've been seriously looking at the FN PBR, and the Tikka Stainless. The stock on the FCP just doesn't work with me. Been thinking about a tacticool build on a 223, and may go with a remington for it, and get the jag mag conversion so I can use Mini14 clips. Gotta decide how much to spend on the rifle, and if I want an AR-15 or not.

No production or even custom rifle is going to ALWAYS be a sub MOA right out of the box. You can't know that in advance. Go ask the guys on the Precision Shooting site.

Go with the Savage. It is considered to be the most accurate rifle out of the box. Many "merc" types have gone to the Savage because of its accuracy.

When I bought my 10fp, they were selling them in a 20" and a 24" barrel. The 20" barrel would be the way to go if length is a problem...

dust iv'e got the ruger m77 mk2 in 308 and love it couldnt give me another 308 just bought it 2 months ago shooting softball size rocks @300 yds been too windy to start stretching it out but with my reloads, i should be pretty accurate @ 600 yds and am going to try to stretch it out even further its got the wide shooters stock(real perty) w/h a matte stainless bull barrel, we usually shoot 50-100 rnds when we got a good day, so the heavy stock and bull barrel make it easier to shoot all day price wise it was $801 out the door but each to their own the remmy are good shooters also thx, joe
