Mecalf Gap area.

Moonscaping - "borrowed" the term from another member here that used it to describe what they did to a couple of our hunting spots the week before opening deer rifle season.

This was all wooded up to the field edge. Much more was done than in this pic, all the way around my feed pen too.

You went from 8' Mesquite trees to grass? Did the LO tell you?

That picture is from inside a blind that is on a 10ft stand so it is quite a bit more than 8ft. Some of the trees were hard trees too, not just mesquite. LO was unaware he was doing this. It was done without permission. We ended up getting credited two spots for the year because of it.

Waiting on confirmation - see earlier post. Turns out it is possible that it was someone who has access to the land but to everyone's knowledge (except his maybe) shouldn't be hunting the land. If that is the case I won't post obviously. Either way, he should not have been hunting the land to our knowledge. If it turns out not the case, we will contact GW. But based on a source here, it was a ranch hand.

Maybe it's just me but seems like almost every time this topic comes up its someone who leases the land and gets on a public forum and accuses someone of trespassing before they get there facts straight. Then come to find out they had rights to be there. If they were actually trespassing then I don't blame you at all. Even though you think you might run a place you are not the land owner and at the of the day he has final say. A lot of farmers and ranchers lose a lot of money due to hogs and weekend warriors from the city can't keep up most of the time. I just think people need to be 100% on there facts before throwing that out there...sounds like you need to also get with the land owner and let him know what you expect from having lease rights. Just my 2 cents..

Seems to me txhogger is going about it right. He didnt post pictures of anyone and said hes not going to unless he finds out that the people new they were poaching. It also sounds like to me that the farmer said noone but them had permission to hunt there. I also believe that more times than not its the hog hunter that truly believes he can go anywhere his dog does.

And I have a worthless brother in law that does just this! I told him he was trespassing onto others property and his response was "I'm doing them a favor"! I said, good I hope they catch you and press trespassing charges against you.

Any dog hunter who jumps a fence is a poacher. No one has the right to enter property after their dogs.
And before anyone jumps on me , I run dogs.

Only ones that would jump on you are the ones that do exactly that. They give the other hog doggers a bad name and unfortunately, they are the minority, but just enough of the sorry ones to make an impact.

Txhogger, any updates? Same ranch hand that did the moonscaping or different one?

Even if they have permission, they should fix the fence. That's pretty sorry on its own.

It seems like he is handling it the right way if it was not on a public forum. The title says it all...if someone called me out in public like this without the facts I would punch them right in face..A pic of a mans dog/horse.etc would be the same as posting a pic of their face in my opinion. That's like putting something all over the news calling someone a thief then come to find out it wasn't true. Again if the facts are a 100% then I understand and hope they get caught.just my 2 cents..

Same thing happend to us this year, I put a camera on a pipeline right of way and caught numerous vehicle that don't belong on property that weren't pipe ping people. Even caught the people on camera that were running dogs on our property. I lasted the owner who lives on property and she stated that they told her that if their dogs came on property then they had the right to try and get their dogs. No wonder our deer season was a bust. I told the land owner they are lying and that of I see any "stray" dogs they will be killed.

If someone tore up my property and didn't own up to it, I would punch them right in the face.

Even if they aren't poachers, they are vandals. Not as sorry, but dang close IMO.

You are right in the fact that there are some sorry people out there that screw it up for people who do everything they can to have a good name and image. It's also posts like this that make it hard for honest doggers when people post false information without facts. We are 3 pages deep on a topic that might not even be true...People automatically draw a conclusion off the topic of this discussion true or not...

The fence part goes hand in hand with my first sentence...

I draw a conclusion on what is stated by many doggers on this forum and others and by what has happened on my place.

Problem is that where there is smoke there is typically fire. Numerous times and multiple members of this forum have came right out and said they have every right to cross fences, defend the fact that they don't have to control their dogs, state that dogs don't know what a fence is and once they finally catch up to their dogs, they can and will kill the hog before returning to their side of the fence.

My guess is that it isn't threads like this that cause people to make assumptions and as we both said, the people under suspicion by the OP are sorry folks, whether they had permission or not.

And, when you lease the hunting rights to a property, that typically does mean you have exclusive rights unless stated otherwise. If you had grazing rights, would you be ok with someone running 30 extra head on the same place?

Yep when you start posting peoples pictures on the net and accusing them of crimes you better be 150% sure your right. We've already seen two threads in the past where the accuser was wrong.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Main thing is there was not suppose to be anyone hunting the land assured to him by the LO.... end of story... I have access to many places like this but if the LO says hey no hunting or lets stay out of here during deer season or any rules what so ever I will be respecting them so I don't loose whatever rights I have on the place... Dog hunting shouldn't even be put into this as a negative... people make dumb choices this one just happen to be running dogs.

I've dealt with this exact issue only it was quail dogs & hunters about 10 years ago....their dogs crossed the fence and they simply "entered the property to retrieve their dogs"....problem is, they did not notice us and we watched them shoot 3 or 4 birds before we confronted them...as we were escorting them back to their property another quail took flight and I'll be derned if one of those buttmonkey's didn't shoot it...due to that little act of stupidity, I made a little phone call to landowner...who contacted adjacent landowner (a cousin)... who contacted me....problem solved and those boys got the boot in December and boy did they go down whining and crying like someone had done THEM wrong....amazing. Sadly, too many people out there simply view a fence as something easy enough to cross...not as a boundary.

One thing I've learned over the years is that most of the nonsense seems to take place during the week as people apparently expect that most hunters will only be out on the weekends. Since our encounter with the quail hunters (on a Wednesday), we regularly hunt during the week to keep the stupidity to a minimum.

is that a threat? sounds like one! to appease you, i added POSSIBLE to the title. that is as far as i will bend. i never directly accused anyone of anything though. posting a picture of a dog that is in OUR pen seems within my rights. even if he had permission to be on the land I DON'T even go into other hunter's pens on this property without their knowledge. taking it a bit further, the least we have here is destruction of personal property right? don't know, i am not a lawyer. i know that is splitting hairs but fact is it was torn up and not repaired. not even so much as telling us. so who is wrong here?

here is the information i was given by our lease manager who runs the properties.

He said he has made it clear with his team that they are not to disturb us hunters - the cattle people do their thing/hunters do theirs and we don't intersect much. He is having a meeting this morning with the corporate office to see if anyone from their team was involved. He said it should not have been any of his people out there.

txshntr, still waiting word back. communication sometimes takes a few days for us to hear back from him. i am certain we will. as for if it was the same guy who did this and did the above to our spots, i don't know. i am not sure if the person hunting is the same guy but it would be the same group allegedly (for cwhite....). as you can see from the above comments if it was the same group they were not supposed to be hunting out there anywhere.

at this point i am unsure but i can say that i got very specific information from a member here that confirms it was a ranch hand. i don't know that it is the rancher or someone that works for him. seems like for some reason they have a real problem with us. one former member ran some of the cows off his blind once and that is all i know has happened (i may be wrong here). unfortunately, i have that guy's spot and i don't think the rancher knows he is gone so seems like i got some of his wrath/revenge (or whatever it was). different thread/story but looking back it seems a bit calculated. i may be wrong.

in the end, i will say i am very impressed by the community here and support you get. i had information that was very solid inside of 24hrs of posting and still have not gotten word back from the lease manager (not his fault). that is impressive! thanks to all of you for the help on this.
