why is everyone worried about illegals when they go hunting?
there are more illegals in the parking lot of home depot at 7 am than there are in the whole county of Uvalde traversing the countryside
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I would be sleeping with one eye open if were me. Both eyes open and a couple of big hungry dogs posted around me. And I would not let a stranger within 200 yds of me.

I usually go on a hunt in Spofford and we have seen illegals at least three times. Like some of the others have said, they are little to no threat to you. The last two years we have seen them crossing the property at night. Last year they were close enough that you could see the light from a small flashlight to help them find their way.
Six years ago we went down on a spring turkey hunt and two guys popped out of some heavy brush and walked out right in front of one of my customers. According to him, as soon as they saw the blind, they hauled a$$.
Now, If you find a backpack or something that looks out of order, leave it and call the authorities.

They are usually picked up way before Uvalde. My buddies place in Dimmit is a highway but I luckily haven't seen any. Just some shoes and clothes. One hunt there was a gallon jug on a road and next time they went by it was gone. They find a dead or injured one every once in awhile but the oil traffic has slowed it way down it seems or they are more wary now.

We had six on our game cams in a week in Duval County... no issues and they don't come into camp... they just seem to make it through the senderos hopping fences from ranch to ranch at night. I think the cool weather has them coming through more as we had not seen any until last two weeks.

Illegals that cross the border are looking to avoid trouble and confrontation. They know that any interaction with any gringo may result in them being deported back to Mexico.
I would be much more worried, if I were you, about all the other hunters in camp who are armed with loaded weapons to protect themselves from some perceived issue that they themselves fabricated as an excuse to pack heat.
And then, throw in a heavy helping of booze....
Watch out for the real threat from the other yay-hoos in camp, not the imagined things that go bump in the night.

I've hunted around Campwood for 20+ years and run into illegals one time and they hauled butt when we saw them.
Go have fun and grab the breakfast buffet at Casa Falcon.

I'd be more worried about rattle bugs than wets.

Illegals are not the problem down here..It's the illegals that are smuggling drugs....that's where you may have issues
Think you can/Think you can't/Either way you're right

Any illegals you may see in Uvalde are most likely lost. They don't typically walk that far if they are not lost. Further south in Zavala and Dimmit co you see many. I used to see around 6-800 a year. They aren't going to bother you, they'll just run if the see you. Dope usually is not backpacked that far in as well.

saw about 7 of 'em about 15 minutes ago. they were unloading their lawn mowers and leaf blowers for the day. i think only 5 or 6 live next door. there's maybe 12-15 live across the street. there's really nothing too awful much to worry about until they start chooting up in the air on jan. 1st

Came face to face with a group of about 10-15 5 years ago outside of Falfurias. Was turkey hunting and they came into my set up to fill water jugs at a windmill. One just about walked over me, had to stand up and tell him to run. He finally got the point when I shouldered my shotgun.
