I will be hunting on a friends ranch near Camp wood this next week. How safe is it out there? There are rv's on the property that we will be staying in but we are only about 2 hrs from the border so I'm concerned about foot traffic. Anyone have any problems with this area being unsafe?

I have property up there and I have heard of an illegal or two but never seen any. not a place you would want to be not knowing where you are going.

You really have to watch out for those crazy canuks. They are showing up everywhere now that winter is coming.

They travel up the Nueces. Too many high fences everywhere else. Plus plenty of water to drink. Border patrol has a heavy presence in the area and the illegals know it.

Illegals are not the problem! Its the guys bringing them through that have the guns.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I wouldn't go, it's just to dangerous. I would be willing to take my rifle and clear the area for you first.

Your armed and if you are paying attention, you should see them before they see you. I wouldn't worry about it, odds are you won't have any problems. Try hunting Wyoming around Yellowstone where the grizzlies have no fear of man and like to snoop around your tent at night looking for something to eat!

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

There are illegals but not so much during hunting season.

the illegals are not going to do anything that will bring attention to themselves. Once inside the border they are high tailing it north. Also, they are very aware that the deer blinds have folks with binoculars and guns this time of year.

there are more this time of year. cooler weather means a larger migration.

I'll put it this way. I've hunted in south texas and the hill country all my life.

I've seen exactly 2 illegals in my life. one was walking down Hwy 97 just south of charlotte and the other was walking down Hwy 85 between charlotte and dilley. Both were dead tired/starving/dying of thirst and wanted to get picked up.

if your down in Falfurrias, Laredo, Encinal, eagle pass, etc, then you have to worry about it a bit more but its over hyped on majority of properties.

We saw a few firepits on a place we hunted for many years but never had any issues with break ins or seeing any cross. As mentioned, lots of BP presence in that town.

Go rent you a big green suburban for the weekend, probably better than carrying a pistol!

You don't have anything to worry about in Uvalde, go and have fun.

I saw two illegals yesterday. They were in an old truck on the access road loaded down with fresh cut oak and headed to the local wood yard. You guys need to get a life!
