I think what he's saying is just because it shows up online and you can buy it does not mean it's in stock. He's not saying they don't hold inventory, he's just saying their system is not live online so you don't know if you'll get it the next day or if you'll have to wait.

All my scopes were "decent" models 10 years ago... Too cheap to go big bucks, I guess. Simmons .44 mag, anyone?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant swfa has no real time inventory on their website! You may order it online and the next day get a email saying sorry this product is not in stock.

I got a vortex viper hs 4-16x44 for 400 from cameraland on eBay. The seller is gr8tfuldoug1, I believe he also posts here. If you watch the ads, he will sell this exact scope for $279 a time or two a year. Or maybe its the 6.5-20x44 30mm tube

I'd go with a Leupold. If you ever have a problem with the scope they will treat you right and they will do it quickly. Also, and this is just my opinion, the scopes with a large objective lens are heavy and must be mounted higher over the rifle. I know they are the rage nowadays. My favorite scope is the 2.5x8x36 Leupold. It is relatively light and can be mounted low on the rifle, which makes it nice to shoot and carry as well as graceful in appearance on your rifle.

My neighbor uses Sightron SII Bigsky on his rifles. I've shot them and they are clear and track well. I have Nikon Buckmasters on mine.

Vortex or Leupold. Best warranties in the business, should you ever need to use them.

Sightron makes a good scope for the price, and Burris has the NEW C4 that is caliber specific and bullet drop compensated with wind hashes for 10mph cross wind at selected distance.

My brother has the 4-16x50, and it is sharp. It comes in near $500 +/-, depending on where you can find it.
